 | Acer Aspire AS5251-1805 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black)
At $379 this Laptop is perfectly priced for the features it comes with.... -- 2010-09-04 I won't go into the specs of this particular laptop because it is outlined in the product description. I have wanted a full size laptop for awhile. I have two netbooks (1 acer & 1 MSI). I love my netbooks because of the portability. The only downside to netbooks is the lack of an optical drive. I had several programs that I wanted to load onto my netbook but it required a separate optical drive. It wasn't something that I wanted to deal with.
So for the last year, I have been combing the internet and my local stores for a full size laptop. I did see a lot of good buys for laptops but most of the deals were for laptops that had Vista and I wasn't going to go there. I heard too many nightmare stories from professionals and regular people about the totally disappointing Vista experience. I love Windows XP but didn't want to invest in a new laptop using an old operating system. So I decided to wait it out and see what would become of Windows 7. I also wanted to get a reasonably priced laptop for my needs which include email, facebook, netflix and whatever basic stuff I needed to do online. I am not into opening multiple windows and running complex processes. This Acer Aspire 5251-1805 laptop is for someone like me.
It is a stylish looking laptop with a surface that resist fingerprints. It has a numeric key pad on the right side which is great. Three usb ports, HDMI port for my tv, and an SD card reader for me to load my pictures make this more than an adequate computer for my basic needs. Now the best part of everything is the price. At $379, Amazon has outdone itself by offering the consumer a laptop that is meant for everyday use and then some. I checked out a well known big box store that is famous for rolling back their prices. I couldn't find anything with the same features I was looking for. This is a great deal, get it while you can.
So far so good -- 2010-09-03 I bought this laptop because of its value. For $379 with no tax and free shipping...you get
- 2.2Ghz Single core AMD processor (enough processor speed for what I do...pay bills, surf the net, organize my pics)
- 3GB DDR3 RAM (plenty for the programs I run)
- 250GB HD (enough for me, I bought a 320GB portable HD for backup...Not a matter IF hard drive will fail its a matter of WHEN
- 15.6in screen (nice size, not too small or to big, clear and crisp, no complaints)
- HDMI output (I like this, allows you to connect to LCD TV and watch on your videos, audio comes through nicely to TV)
- Wireless 802.11bgn (I think my router is still the G version. Router is on the 2nd floor and I use laptop on 1st floor. Signal strength is about 2-3 bars and I have not lost the connection yet)
- Multi-media card reader (It reads the Memory Stick Duo Pro with an adapter I have. I have not tried an SD card.)
- Webcam (It works, don't use it much)
- 3 USB (I had an issue with my nano reciever from a Microsoft Laptop mouse (3500) getting stuck in the USB. I blame Microsoft since all my other USB devices don't get stuck)
- Ethernet (Nice to have as backup)
- DVD±R/RW drive (Watch your DVD's, burn DVD's)
About the only thing missing is the built-in BlueTooth but you can get an adapter for $20 or less.
Aesthetically, the laptop looks nice. The area where your wrist lay looks like brushed nickel. The plastic that surrounds the screen is shiny black plastic. When you close the laptop, the top of it has this rubbery anti-skid covering that looks like mini diamond plate. This is hard to wipe clean. If you wipe it with something moist, the water seems to stay in ridges.
As someone else mentioned, there are no LED's for the CAPS LOCK and the NUM LOCK. An icon flashs on the screen for about 2 seconds when you toggle the CAPS LOCK and/or NUM LOCK.
Hope this helps.

 | Acer Aspire TimelineX AS1830T-3721 11.6-Inch Laptop (Black)
Acer Aspire Timelinex 1830T -- 2010-08-30 I have been looking at this product for awhile.
I got it last week. So far so good.
There are couple things that I want to say about this product.
Cons
1. The CPU runs kinda hot when I open more than three apps.
2. The touch-pad is not good at all. I know there are many people say the same thing, but I don't expect like this.
3. The fan is loud. When I do webcam with my fds, the fan is so loud.
Other than that, the performance is good.
Excellent Computer - just love it!!! -- 2010-08-21 I had wanted a portable computer for some time now. '
- My requirements are that it be fast, can multitask, small footprint, can handle HD streaming and can run winamp w DSP processing for my hi fi audio hobby.
- What I have tried so far: ipad (excludes many of above criteria but excellent user interface and touch screen), Acer 13.3 inch i3 computer. Have looked into the mac air, sony vaio 13 inch but have found that I wanted to stick w PC and that mac was too expensive for me at this time. Also sony was way to expensive for the vaio Z series.
- My impressions: I just love this computer. Everything I want...really awesome. Typically I open up approx 10 screens for my email, favorite sites, pandora streaming in background, hulu in background and one or two apps running such as uploading maps to my Garmin unit. This computer handles it all like a champ. I don't know of other computers out there now that can do it. This computer redefines a "netbook". No longer is one relagated to a dinky netbook when you can have this awesome computer.
- What I don't like: the touchpad. The multigesture pad seems to have been an afterthought in the design. When I compared it to how responsive an ipad is for example on a scale of 1-->10 this pad gets a 2-3 whereas the ipad gets a 10. Is finicky...sometimes can zoom or scroll and sometimes doesen't. Typically its where I put the finger on the pad that makes all the difference. Definetely not a deal breaker but a hassle somewhat.
So here you go. I just had to write about this excellent computer. Hope it helps others in their search.
btw: I wrote this review on the reviewed computer on the 11.6 keyboard without any difficulty.

 | Acer Aspire TimelineX AS4820T-5570 14-Inch HD Display Laptop (Black Brushed Aluminum)
Generally satisfied -- 2010-09-02 This is the 4th laptop I have ever used. I had Toshiba, Lenovo T61, Asus before this, and they all have some good points.
I got this product 2 days after the purchase, and the packing was nice and beautiful. I was impressed by how thin this laptop is, however, its length and width are larger than my expectation. The screen is 14", but it has wide edges, so the overall size is bigger than my previous 14" laptop. The smooth plastic inner surface part makes it looks kind of "cheap".
It is not heavy though, actually lighter than the 14" laptop I bought 3 years ago. I guess it is unrealistic for me to expect it to be as light as a netbook.
I love the input/output ports on its side--it has everything I need and doesn't have anything I don't need. It has 4 USB ports, which is great for me. It has HDMI output, which is the main reason why Ichose it. I could connect it to my wide screen TV, and watch movies from the internet. The quality of the transmission for both video and sound was great. My friend said it was really fancy to use it this way.
The program is not running as fast as I have expected. Although it is similar, or maybe faster than my dual core-lenovo T61, I thought technology should have developed a lot after 3 years. My lenovo had some systematic problems though--the soundMAX is always inactivated, so there is no sound unless I restart it over and over again; and I couldn't successfully backup or restore. I haven't seen any similar problem in this Acer machine. The software for backup and restore was easy to use, and ran pretty smooth.
This product is the quietest laptop I've ever used. I cannot even hear the sound from the cooling fan. And it has never gotten too warm.
As other comments have pointed out, the 8 hours battery life may only last for 5 hours if you're really using it. But it is not bad either considering the thickness.
All in all, this is a compact, well-designed laptop pretty much worth the price.
Would this computer meet my needs? -- 2010-08-31 I am looking at the Acer Aspire to buy. Not being very computer savvy I am not sure of a lot of the technical jargon. One thing I would like to do is buy a lp to cd converter. I believe I need audio input for this (not sure if any other special things are needed). Would I be able to do the lp to cd converting with this computer? I also want a cd rw and dvd player and the webcam. Does anyone have a better suggestion for me than this Acer? I rated it 4 stars only because I had to do a rating in order to submit my opinion.

 | Acer Aspire TimelineX AS3820T-5246 13.3-Inch HD Laptop (Black Brushed Aluminum)
Nice but not quite..... -- 2010-07-29
This laptop has a few flaws:
1) The screen is not as crisp as it should, i found i had a hard time looking at it.
You also need to tilt it way more than normal to get a good picture.
2) The speakers are too quiet....
3) I'm not sure if i had a defective unit but i felt LAG when video was involved. few seconds freezes from time to time.
4) seems like the screen doesn't have enough colors because gradients on video was non existent.
5) The touch pad is spotty. it's also not smooth enough.
6) The battery life is no where close to 8 hours. I would say realistically 4-5 hours.
7) The cover is a finger print magnet, and worse it doesn't wipe out easily.
The pros:
Thin, quiet, nice build quality.
Good Things Come in Small Packages -- 2010-07-20 I bought this for $699, shipping included directly from Amazon about three weeks ago. As you can see from some of the discussion thread, the specifications on this system listed by Amazon were changed several times along the way - I think Amazon could do a better job in making sure they get the particulars of a specific model right when they are listing a new system. (I noticed this wasn't just for Acer, seemed to be the case for many new systems).
That being said, I love this little Acer system overall. I've been in high tech for over 25 years and I've gone through a lot of computers. I've had this one aboug three weeks and it has exceeded my expectations in most areas.
Form Factor
Small, light, and compact; yet feels solid when you carry it. Doesn't overheat like many systems. Speakers for a laptop are pretty good, as is the webcam. I think most 'average users' will be okay with both. While the keyboard and wrist area are fairly good at not picking up fingerprints, the same can't be said for the top of the system - the black matte surface tends to show them.
I like the multi-card reader (it's hidden nicely in the front left corner of the system) and the HDMI support is a real plus as well for me since I plug this into my standing monitor quite often.
If you're used to opening up your laptop with one hand (due the help gravity gives you in dealing with your older, heavier laptop) you may miss that - the Acer really needs two hands to open the lid, else the bottom tends to come off the table while you're trying to open the 'clam shell' hinged top. A small thing I adjusted to quickly...
In general, doesn't seem to be a lot of flex in the system, no creaking or moaning when I carry it. it reminds me a little of a well-built car when you shut the door - solid sounding, not a tin can. (I've had a lot of tin can laptops over the years...) I have noticed a slight looseness in the left hand side plastic that covers the LED display, but it's not enough to bother me.
Peformance
The Intel HD graphics, i3 processor, and 4GB of memory help this puppy hum right along. The only complaint would be the slower 5400 speed drive. It's not necessarily noticeable, but it's too bad Acer doesn't include a faster 7200RPM drive. Also, for future reference, the system can hold 8GB of memory, but it comes preinstalled with 2 2GB DDR3 1066 SDRAM memory modules so keep that in mind if you are planning to upgrade memory at some point in the future - you'll need to swap out both cards to get to 8GB.
High resolution video streaming, various online playbacks, and online performance in general is excellent. (See my note below about wireless throughput). In general, I'm very pleased with the graphics on this system.
Pre-installed Software
A couple of the Acer preloaded softwares seemed a little flakey. I uninstalled most of the preloaded software. In general, there is some clean-up if you don't want to take advantage of all their 'offers', but no more than most other systems.
Keyboard
Didn't mind the 'island' key layout, though it did take a couple minutes to get used to. Keyboard overall is responsive and has a very good 'full keyboard' feel. I thought the response of the multi-gesture touchpad was pretty good overall and think that if you haven't had one before, you'll like the functionality.
CineCrystal Backlight LED Display
Some people don't like this type of 'high-gloss' display. This system doesn't seem to have much glare/reflection issues; viewing angles are good, and the brightness is almost too bright - I adjusted the default power settings to turn it down some.
Wireless
I did have one issue with the wireless (which turned out to have nothing directly to do with the Acer system, but I thought it was important to include here for anyone looking at Windows 7 and N-router compatibility). The Acer found my network easily, and Windows 7 configured everything correctly so it worked right away... but, I noticed the throughput seemed very slow. I ran a speed test online (dslreports) and realized my throughput was terrible - even though I was configured to use my N-router and was only about 5 feet from the router when I did the test. I little research showed a lot of people complaining about slow and disconnecting wireless on Windows 7 systems (mostly during the Windows 7 beta, but still a lot since production release).
My problem turned out to be related to my router (it needed to have it's firmware updated to the latest version). Once I did that, the Acer connected wirelessly like a rocket. I'm averaging 11-12Mbps download on comcast; prior to update my wireless router firmware I was getting about 950Kbps download speed wirelessly. So - if you have an N-router and are moving to a system with Windows 7, and you notice any performance issues, you may want to double check and make sure your router firmeware is the latest version possible.
Also, be aware that the preinstalled wireless drivers for the Atheros miniPCIe card are more current than the ones on Acer's website. So if you are troubleshooting wireless issues, be careful to check versions before assuming Acer's website has the most current.
Batter Life
While the 6-cell battery is good (Acer also makes a 9-cell you can buy as well), it's not giving me anywhere near 8 hours of battery life - not that I expected it to. There are good options and a lot of granularity for adjusting performance/battery life profiles. I've been running mostly in the predefined 'balanced profile' and find I get about 4 to 4.5 hours of battery life which I think is more than reasonable. I suspect if I wanted to I could prolong the battery by running in the 'maximum battery life profile', but I haven't worried about it since my old laptop (Dell XPS) was lucky to get 2.5 hours. I did play with the maximum battery life profile a little and didn't notice any slow down in performance - only that it dimmed the display quite a bit - which is always a big culprit when it comes to consuming power.
Acer Support
I had a chance to deal with them when I noticed my slow wireless connectivity. In general, they seem to try and handle support via email, and although they are responsive, the responses seemed very automated and generic (try installing latest drivers, check obvious things). If you are used to troubleshooting issues on your own, I think they can complement the process. I never got the point where my issue was escalated hight enough to get any real help from them as I'd already solved it on my own. That being said, their site does a pretty good job of organizing their drivers by model and OS.
Last Thoughts
I had considered buying an Apple Macbook Pro or Airbook this time around, but for the price difference, this Acer can't be beat. I'd also looked at various higher/lower end notebooks, ultralight notebooks and ever a few netbooks. If you don't mind not having an optical drive (and to be honest I thought I would miss it, but don't) a 13.3 inch system like this Acer, with the new Intel i3 processor (they also have a model that comes with the i5) can't be beat for the price. It's solid and seems to be a good little workhorse.

 | Acer Aspire AS5741-5763 15.6" Laptop (2.26 GHz Intel Core i3-350M Mobile Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, Super-Multi Drive, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) Mesh Black
Great laptop for the price! -- 2010-09-02 Just purchased this laptop last thursday at Staples for only $399!!!!! Love it! It is just find for my needs, which are mostly "playing" online with email, Youtube and social networking. The ONLY negative I can find with this ACER 5741Z is that its speakers do not seem loud enough. I have them up as high as they go, and it is difficult to hear music online. Otherwise, no complaints. I had a Dell, but this ACER blows it out of the water!!!!!! Especially like that the cover and keyboard area are "smudge" proof, and have a matte finish.
Lots of Computer for a Little Price -- 2010-08-26 I ordered this laptop on 5/25, after reading good reviews on Newegg and CNet. I received it on 5/26 (One Day Shipping through Amazon Prime). My initial impressions were that, although the exterior leaves something to be desired (it's very plain and functional-looking), the computer seems very sturdy and well-built. The keyboard is full sized and easy to type on. The touchpad is a nice size, although to left/right click, you have to apply a good amount of pressure, which takes some getting used to. The screen quality is good, although it's very shiny, so you have to have it at the right angle or else it's reflects way too much light.
I had a problem at first with the computer freezing on startup, which was a little frustrating. However, once I uninstalled McAfee and other bloatware, the problem was resolved. I recommend getting rid of these programs before attempting to download other programs. Without them, it runs like a dream.
It's a little on the heavy side, due to its large size. However, compared to other laptops this size, it's a reasonable weight. It'd only be a problem if you had to haul it around all day, but it would be comfortable to carry to or from class or work. The large screen would be perfect for watching movies or streamed video, although the speakers sound a little bit tinny.
Overall, I am very pleased with this laptop. I use it mainly for watching movies, surfing the internet, and writing papers, but I think it'd be able to handle more intense activities, like gaming. Spec-wise, it's comparable to machines that cost twice as much. The built-in webcam and HD components are a nice touch. I think it'd be perfect for the first-time college student or home user, even if it doesn't look as slick as other computers.
I'd give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the freezing issue. That's more of a problem with Windows than a problem with the laptop itself, though.

 | Acer Aspire TimelineX AS5820T-5951 15.6-Inch HD Laptop (Black Brushed Aluminum)
Fantastic for grad school -- 2010-09-03 Solid build and, very important for grad students who have lots of lectures to review and online notes to read, a sharp, rich, crystal clear screen. Color is fantastic.
Sound is reasonable for those lectures, but I still need more volume and want to listen to tunes without headphones, so I picked up a little external speaker system.
Keyboard is excellent with minimal flex.
The four USB ports (one is a SATA/USB combo) and other connection points are sensibly located on the sides (nothing on the back).
I like the solid feel because I have to carry this in my backpack to school a few times a week. Definitely light enough, and I trust the battery enough to leave the power brick at home. I've gotten over five hours on battery with the wireless going full blast the whole time.
ACER customer service seemed vague about the price of an extra battery, but they finally, after making me register the product, told me it would cost "around $80 plus shipping." From experience, I know having an extra battery is very handy and can extend the life of both batteries by several years.
The webcam is about average and works fine for video phone calls and class conferencing activities.
Wireless reception seems strong on campus and at home (but we have a great router).
It looks good, feels solid, displays text, video and pics brilliantly, and will probably be all I need for the next five plus years.
Build quality bad on my machine -- 2010-09-02 I received my AS5820T earlier today and unfortunately I will have to return it. My computer wobbled because the front-left base was not the same height as the front-right side. I played with it all day seeing if I could adjust to it but I decided to return it. I expect a $700+ computer to have better build quality than that. I bought an Asus UL50 last year and the build quality on that machine is better than this Acer.
On the plus side, the keyboard is very comfortable. It is island style but the keys are wide like a regular keyboard. Unlike the Asus UL50, the numberpad keys are large and easy to type on. The trackpad is large but it is a bit weird-it wasn't as responsive as I would've liked.

I bought this at walmart for $298. It would be a great Machine for twice the price. -- 2010-08-23 I like this so much I bought one for my Married daughter and she loves it. Then My 40 year old son saw it and could not believe the deal and he bought one. All three of these replaced other more expensive laptops that have seen better days. It works great...I love watching streaming Video's thru the netfixs and the HDMI out put on the laptop. I play it to my 50 inch Samsung Plasma. I works like a champ. Easy to set up...very fast...can not tell it is only a single processor. Love Windows 7 Home Premium. How this machine can be sold so cheap is a mystery. If you need a laptop and see this one buy it. You will not be sorry.
Wow! -- 2010-08-22 How this seller can sell these at this price I'll never know, but WOW! Acer is a great product and you just can't go wrong if you want a great laptop at a reasonable price.

 | Acer Aspire AS7551-2531 17.3-Inch Laptop (Black)
Is the Best Laptop -- 2010-08-23 This is the best laptop I've had for a price so comfortable, the truth I am very happy with my product and its functionality is exepcional, I encourage all visitors to this computer is super good
Impressive capabilities for the price! -- 2010-08-22 I bought the Acer Aspire AS7551-2531 as a gift to someone I know. But before I gave the computer to this very lucky person, I was testing it to see how good it really was. First off, Acer did something really nice with the packaging and the feeling I got from just opening it and observing the product was amazing. I won't spoil those details and will leave you to see for yourselves if you buy it.
Now onto the real specs of this affordable powerhouse. The memory of the laptop is very high speed and gave me a 7.5 on the Windows Experience Index (WEI). The processor is also very fast as it is the second generation dual core of the Athlon family, the Athlon II. The integrated ATI Radeon 4250 performs very well for its intended uses, which is more on the lines of video instead of gaming. But that did not stop me from trying it out on some of my games :) . I actually managed to play Street Fighter IV on this notebook (DVD I purchase when it first came out) with settings between mid to high at 1280x720. This was accomplished by downloading and installing the AMD Dual Core Optimizer (DCO) from AMD's support website. So with that I say that gaming wise, this laptop can have secondary or tertiary uses in light gaming, with the only exception of Street Fighter IV, which are games that do not require the beefy, monsters that are the desktop graphics cards on desktops. The sound quality on this laptop is also good. The only drawbacks I think of is the fact that the notebook has no Blu-ray drive built in, but perhaps this is a good thing considering the power of Radeon HD 4250. Also, it only comes with about 3 or 4 USB 2.0 ports, not the 3.0 standard, and no express card slot. In addition, The laptop has only 3.0 hours battery life. Besides those flaws, This laptop also has a very vivid and colorful picture via the jumbo 17.3 in widescreen display with enhanced Acer display technology. Hard drive size is also adequate.
My final thought on this purchase is that this notebook is a great buy considering the price and it feels and looks like a professional product. If you want some portable gaming power, I would suggest that you look to spend in the $900.00 - $1000.00 range. Nonetheless, you won't be disappointed in buying this laptop if you are an everyday casual and some what demanding user.

 | Acer Aspire TimelineX AS1830T-3927 11.6-Inch Laptop (Black)
Disappointed -- 2010-09-01 It seemed to be a very nice laptop except I was not able to load my Garmin GPS software or Microsoft Office 2003. Acer was no help and Garmin could not determine the problem(after spending about 2 hours with me), so I returned it and purchased a Toshiba R700 that seems even nicer and I was able to load all of my software with no problem.
Best Subnotebook in its class -- 2010-08-05 This review pertains only to the Core i3-330UM model.
Overall:
This notebook is perfect in every way for what I need: HDMI port for HDTVs, lightweight, good keyboard, decent trackpad, reasonably snappy processor (better than any Atom and I've read that it is better than Core 2 duo CULV processors in previous generation subnotebooks), and it fits into my backpack without adding too much weight. 11.6" is really the sweetspot of ultraportable notebook sizes.
Price, Battery Life:
The price is reasonable for what you get, but it does lack Bluetooth unless you get the i5 model, for $100 more (for which you also get 4GB ram and a 500GB Hard drive). Another bad thing is that it is almost twice as expensive as an Atom based netbook; its price can fetch a decent full-sized notebook. However, it outperforms those in every way and still maintains good battery life (5.5 hours at 50% brightness, with Firefox playing Pandora radio, outlook open, two pdfs open and an ipod charging). It is the perfect office mate when grading papers and I need a computer nearby to enter grades.
Keyboard and Trackpad:
The keyboard is really nice, even if the keys are flat. I was able to adjust to it because of its size. Many people complain about the trackpad, and I can see where they are coming from somewhat. However, I really think it is just too different from what they are used to. It feels a bit small, scratchy and sensitive, and the buttons are a bit too tough to click, but I was able to adjust to it within a few hours of consistent use. I have no problems with it now, and the multitouch functions work well, but it is up to the buyer if they like it or not.
Build Quality:
Sturdy and solid. The hinges aren't quite built like my 14.1" Lenovo from 2006, but I see the notebook lasting a long time. I am very pleased with the build of this notebook.
Conclusion:
This is the notebook to get if you desire good battery life, great performance, and most importantly, care about the 11.6" form factor. There are AMD based 11.6" models showing up to compete, but I like the Intel platform better because of battery life and performance, unless you want to talk about Thinkpad subnotebooks (without HDMI ports, sadly, and a $1200 pricetag).

Bought it 2 weeks ago and i love it! -- 2010-08-30 Hubby and I bought this type of Acer laptop in the nearby Walmart store in our local area. I saw it in the walmart ad and it was for 329$. Asked my hubby on how he think about it, and he said it sure is promising. It has windows 7 OS, multi-use CD/DVD, multi-in-1 card reader like SD card reader/slot etc, battery/slot, webcam, 3 gigabytes RAM DDR3 and 250 Gigabyte Hard drive and has wifi in it. Very nice 15.6 inch screen. Fast in uploading images and searches in the internet. Can open lots of windows which is cool for me since I only have a Dell Latitude before. Bright screen. The only downside is that it only has 2 usb slots. Hubby says it's a powerful little machine. I love it!
Exceptional Laptop PC -- 2010-08-29 I, too, purchased this Acer from WalMart for $328 on sale. I removed what little bloatware was on the machine. I've had the PC for two weeks and have run the machine through its paces each day. It hasn't failed or disappointed in its performance; and it runs considerably faster, even loaded with my preferred software (MS Office suite and five troubleshooting/maintenance programs)than my former laptop, an IBM R50e. With Acer's 3 GB of RAM, this PC screams on the internet and when running AVG antivirus software, AVG can be time intensive when running on my IBM. If you're looking for a dependable, exceptional-quality-for-the-price PC, this Acer is the one to get--you won't find a better value on the market at the time of this post. This machine can also be found on sale at the major business-supply stores for around $350. I like this Acer so much that I purchased a second one as a gift. I use the PC in conjunction with my desktop for my business, PC home-computer repair, and for personal use. Just as an FYI, I'm running the installed Windows 7 OS, and Firefox as my i-net browser. I deleted all the MSN and Internet Explorer software. This computer is an exceptional buy. Even at $400 it's an exceptional value. I should note that the battery life is well under three hours if, like me, your preference is for higher screen-brightness; the battery life for me is around 2 hours at the higher brightness setting. If you lower the brightness about 2 clicks, the battery life will come close to three hours.
