 | Compaq Presario CQ62-210US Laptop PC
great laptop for a great rate! -- 2010-08-28 I have been looking on laptops for 3 months. to be honest i found lots of better laptops than this with lower rate on amazon but i always was skeptical so i didn't order. but i decided to order this one and i am really satisfied with it so far. the only thing wrong i noticed about this laptop is when i am shut down and start again the screen kind of has a few silver lines going through it but that's only for like 1 secs and only when i am restarting. there is nothing else wrong with this laptop. a must buy but if u have more money then get this same kind of laptop with webcam and s-video.
Unbelievable -- 2010-08-27 Just got my brand new Presario loaded & downloaded my long awaiting email off the server when the computer quit. Outlook had just downloaded so no backup had been created. The server is cleaned after the successful download so no copies there.
Oh well.
After 3 calls to tech support in India and getting the shipping carton 3 days later guess what? I have to pay the shipping to get this piece of crap to the shop in TN.
Hum....
This is my third Presario laptop and likely my last.

Best Laptop for Little Money -- 2010-08-23 First of all, I'm a gamer and advanced computer tech. My main rig is composed by X4 965, 4GB, 275GTX, 2 x 26" and some TB's (WD1002FAEX FTW!).
I need a computer for my school projects and really did not want to spend all my cash for a laptop I wouldn't use at 100% (No fancy quad core, 4GB, 500GB, or fancy video cards and fingerprint readers). I was about to get the 210US but compared both VGA, CPU and RAM and its so much more worth this 220US than its little sister.
Strenghts:
-Processor has quite a punch. If your API's are double core oriented, this lap will not slow down
-Enough RAM, come on 3GB are just fine, 4GB is better and anything beyond is overrated (if you need more, then u don't need this laptop)
-Video: By this I was truly amazed. I totally discarted any gaming on the laptop. However, just out of curiosity, I tried one of my fav. games (Company of Heroes). Everything Low & 1366x768 = 50~60fps. I COULDNT Believe it! I instantly started some panzer battles and it dropped to 36~45fps. VERY VERY Playable OMG!.
-Display is BEAUTIFUL! I own a T260HD & LN42B630 and it looks really great compared to them!.
-Speed: Overall very good speed. HDD somehow drags you down but its 5400rpm afterall...
Weakness:
-Case: Even though I think it looks cool, once you get closer, it really looks very very cheap and scratches very easely
-Touchpad: Its integrated in the case and there are no boundaries (physically, but the touchpad does have limits) so if you dont constantly keep an eye where the touchpad is, you wont find it by feeling it.
-Bloatware & Bundled SW. useless.
Extra:
- The mouse buttons ARE NOT HARD TO PRESS!. Ive tried the CQ60 and yes they were, but on the CQ62 they're smooth as butter!, less smooth than the DV6000 but seriously, who wants a DV6000 hehehe.
- No webcam :( but I already knew that.

Best. Laptop. Ever. -- 2010-09-03 Let me start out by saying this, my brother has a macbook and when he saw my new computer he was jealous. It's fast, the screen quality is perfect, it's got the extra number pad (which is very convenient), and Windows 7 runs great! The only thing I wish this laptop had is a webcam. But really, try finding a better laptop for this price. I am very pleased with my purchase and HIGHLY recommend it to everyone!
Not too good. -- 2010-09-01 I purchased this laptop 2 months ago, but have not really used it much. I encountered 2 blackouts already. Even after shutdown and cold start, it didn't come back. Have to wait for long while and it recovers itself. Not sure what problem caused this. If I am still in the returning window, will definitely want to return it. I like my HP laptop better, without blackout for no reason.

HP Compaq Presario CQ60-615DX Notebook -- 2010-07-31 Just bought this and I am very happy with it. the processor is not that bad, its faster then my old laptop so I am pleased.
Great, low-cost, laptop fits most needs perfectly -- 2010-06-29 On February 16 of this year I purchased a Compaq CQ60-615DX laptop. Almost 4 and a half months later I regret nothing.
At some point during my college career - either my Sophmore or Junior year, which means 2000 or 2001 - I purchased my first laptop, a Dell. I used it for a number of years, but one day it just wouldn't start back up. Ever since then I've purchased HP desktop computers, and while I've helped others purchase laptops, and have thought about buying one, the price for the machine I wanted to build just wasn't in line with what I wanted to pay. So instead I'd purchase a nicely built desktop, for a fraction of the price.
After goofing around with some other portable PC options, and debating whether to buy an iPod Touch, I finally settled on picking up this laptop. I trust HP to put together well-built, and dependable machines; three desktops of varying ages, still all working today. I wasn't sure about their Compaq line, but at the beginning of this month, based on this laptop, I picked up a low-cost Compaq desktop, and would do it again in the future. And a co-worker purchased this same computer a few months earlier, and when asked, said he still found it to be a good buy (and this is actually what pushed me over the edge).
I won't speak too much about what the machine contains, since that's well covered in the specs. Instead, I'll tell you how I use it and what I've done to it, with notes as needed for what I've found to be issues.
There's not too much junk installed on the machine, so no issues there; maybe 3 or 4 hours to get those uninstalled, backup discs made, and Windows Updates applied.
While the 2 GB of RAM is okay, since this is a 64-bit machine I purchased 2 2GB sticks (from Crucial) for around $120, with shipping. It's unfortunate that it comes with two 1 GB sticks, but ... I did this 2 and a half months after I purchased the machine, so clearly it's more of a personal choice (I do Web development and wanted to be able to run various systems on VirtualBox).
I've debated following the advice of another reviewer and swapping in a more powerful video card (Windows experience is 3.3 because of it, although Windows 7 starts up and runs fine), but with the Web surfing (handles Flash-heavy sites fine, as well as Netflix streaming) and development (mostly in Visual Studio 2010; have run Windows XP and Windows Server 2008 on VirtualBox) that I do on the machine, I haven't felt the need. (Office 2010 also handles well.)
Wireless (B/G/N) has worked great, although I've had to manually turn it off and back on twice after it lost my signal, which is amazingly simple. (A third time I ended up powercycling my router, so I assume there were larger issues.)
The left mouse button does seem a little unresponsive at times (3 or 4 times), but if nothing else, there's always USB mice, which I've taken to using when I'm at home, which is where this computer gets most of it's use, as I've shut down one of my desktop machines that I always had up and running for surfing and etcetera.
Almost every day I lug the machine to work and pull it out during lunch to work on one thing or another. I purchased an HP EZ141AA Nylon Value Case, and while at first it seemed like it was going to be too small, it actually works really well. I highly recommend this bag, but if want to lug a number of other items within it, you probably want to look for something larger.
Overall, I give this computer 5 of 5 stars and recommend it highly (and have to my sister and another co-worker).

Good computer but cannot connect to HP Laserjet 4 -- 2010-08-01 This is inexpensive fast computer. It comes with Window 7 Home edition preloaded. Unfortunately or ironically cannot connect to HP Laserjet 4 as the preloaded Window 7 does not have the driver. HP support is no help as they keep telling me the Window 7 has the built in driver for LaserJet 4 and it should connect. Window support again is no help. I have another Dell computer with window 7, and this window shows the laserjet 4 printer driver. I know my printer is old but this should not be a problem. Look like i got to buy another printer with the driver shown in window 7.

This Laptop Delivers -- 2010-06-13 I am more than your average user and this is a great laptop and especially for the price. I purchased this so that I get a basic and cheap laptop for online browsing, emails, and etc..., and I got more than what I expected. The AMD Sempron performs outstanding with Win 7 (64 bit). It came with 2GB RAM and even an HD 4200 ATI video card (resolution is phenomenal). I thought I was going to require memory upgrade and little I knew. The 2GB stick is more than enough. I am able to encode and burn DVD's. I deleted many of the pre-installed trial software and installed software such as Office 2007 and including several freeware tools (firewall, anti virus, cleaning, backup & recovery, and etc...) and no problems. The wireless wizard setup connected to my home network since day one and connectivity has not dropped ever since (router is in basement while laptop is on second floor). I like these laptops with numeric key pad next to the keyboard, unlike old laptops where it was a challenge to use the keyboard as a numeric key pad. I am not a fan of touch pads, but these new ones are easier and comfortable on your finger (although I still use my wireless mouse). It has three USB ports, which makes it convenient for when you have external devices. This is my 5th HP/Compaq laptop and I like their website/support. The bottom line is, this laptop performs and delivers.

AngieLuvs2shop -- 2010-03-20 I have had to replace the hard drive and I cannot connect to a wireless network. Was disappointed in this purchase.
Good laptop but not perfect. -- 2009-12-02 I bought this laptop off of ebay about a year ago. While I had the chance to use it, it was pretty reliable. The only problem was that it came with a faulty power adaptor and I was unable to install certain programs onto it. I eventually bought another power adaptor (generic) which died. I'm hoping that the next one I buy will last long enough to actually get some use out of it.
