 | Dell Inspiron i11z-3747OBK 11.6-inch Laptop (Obsidian Black)
dell inspiron 11z -- 2010-08-23 Great laptop. Should correct the description, it says it has a celeron dual core by default, but it really doesn't
Memory upgrade -- 2010-08-16 This laptop works fine. But I tried to do a memory upgrade (adding more 2 Gb) and this was a nigthmare. There is not an easy access to it and to do so, you have to dismout the whole computer, in an operation that is very difficult. So, neither upgade is possible to do in this laptop without great knowleadge about laptop's maintenance and professional support. To see how this operation is difficult, you can see in youtube the memory upgrade on dell mini 10v that is the same way [...]

 | Dell Inspiron i14R-1761MRB 14.1-Inch Laptop (Mars Black)
Dell laptop as it should be -- 2010-08-25 This new laptop is amazing. Had it for about a month now and have no complaints. The hdmi connection is essential. No more cable for me baby, all my entertainment comes from this laptop straight to my HD TV in hi-def. 500gb of storage is more than enough to store all my digital files. The speed of the computer is great, the i3 processor is very fast and gets the job done. for the $650 I paid for this, don't think I could of gotten a better deal out there.
Great computer for grad school -- 2010-07-28 I purchased this laptop, and I love it! I previously owned a Dell Latitude D620, and I wanted something similar but more practical and affordable for grad school. This computer looks nice, runs great, and I am really loving the Windows 7. The only negative is that the laptop shows your fingerprints really easily, so you have to wipe the laptop down if you don't want to stare at fingerprints. I definitely give this laptop a thumbs up!

 | Dell Inspiron i15R-1974MRB 15.6-Inch Laptop (Mars Black)
This laptop is not as they say in total -- 2010-08-31 This laptop deci to bring 320 of hard disk and what it brings is 285, other one sews when this lit and the led of the procesadro blinks him a sound sounds a little in the interior as if estubiera rosando some kind of buubbuub or as when the disc of a desktop this being damaged.
This sound was what less I me please the laptop for this it is that I do this claim though it does not cost of anything since I did my purchase from Dominican republic and not if it is possible to do anything with the guarantee for this sound.
Besides that he says to me that the model is n5010 and the laptop in the advertisement was saying i15r-1974 not if I am bad but it does not say for ningun side
China Make unit -- 2010-08-30 The Dell Inspiron I bought is good enough. However, the unit is actually China make and not USA make. That is why you get some limitations in this. For example, the bluetooth in my laptop is not working and I am not getting enough support for the same.
In my opinion, if you need a genuine product do not go for this product. However, if you are looking something good for cheap, then this laptop is ok.
Neither its good, nor its a bad product. It all depends on the perception and expectation from the product.
cheers

 | Dell D600 Laptop 1.6ghz 40gb DVD/CDRW B Grade Includes Genuine XP Professional restore cd!
Discount Laptop Shop misadvertised -- 2010-08-21 I paid for a 1.6 ghz laptop but recieved a 585 mhz laptop and no restore cd was enclosed as promised.
This is the worst laptop I have ever owned. -- 2010-07-25 I put up with my first Dell Latitude D600 for about a year before finally just throwing it away. After maybe 3 months of owning it, at least 6 of the keys fell off, the battery stopped working, and I was not able to pick up wireless connections. It died three times during the time period that I owned it, and after replacing the hard drive twice and the fan once, I realized that it just wasn't worth trying to "fix" anymore.
Unfortunately, I received the exact same model of laptop as a gift after my previous one died. This confirmed my belief that this model is an absolute piece of crap. I have owned it less than a year, and the battery does not work, the power cord falls out all the time, a key has fallen off, and I have already had it sent off twice for repairs on the hard drive. Recently, it physically fell into two pieces; the screen just detached from the keyboard and now it's utterly useless and will not turn on.
I handled these laptops responsibly. They always sat either on my desk or on my lap and I never took them out of my home. I used them mostly for surfing the net and photo-editing, rarely downloaded anything, and did not clog it up with loads of pictures and music (it could only handle about 10 folders of music before being completely full anyway). If you want a laptop that falls apart and constantly breaks from normal use, then this is the one for you.

 | Alienware AM11X-2894CSB 11.6-Inch Laptop (Cosmic Black)
The ideal on-the-go gaming rig -- 2010-08-28 I have been looking at this item for quite a while and finally pulled the trigger. My concerns with the speed of the processor on the Core 2 rather than i5 and i7 and the high price were my only reason not to buy. After reading about the battery hit taken on this with the faster processors and the price dropping about $100 so that the price difference with the i7 become quite large, I decided to go with the Core 2 and I am glad I did.
First off, the screen is glossy and only of average brightness but the viewing angles and the ability to turn the contrast all the way up and still see a good picture a plus. Second, there is no bluetooth but there are so many tiny dongles these days it isn't a huge issue for your mouse or headphones - just use of one the three usb ports. Third, the reason to buy this is for gaming and I am happy to say I was able to load all my games on the spacious 320gb hard drive with room to spare and they are all playable anywhere from medium to ultra settings. I play almost exclusively real-time strategy titles such as StarCraft II and the Command and Conquer titles. They all run really good.
The build quality is phenomenal on this thing. It is fun to just look at and admire. Being able to change the lighting in five zones and in various ways makes night computing perfect. The small keyboard is a little tougher to type on than a chic-lit style on a netbook but the razor sharp backlighting makes it work out fine after a little practice. Touch typing works great. The wrist area does not show fingerprints, the mouse has a great texture and really soft press buttons but I use an external mouse.
My first unit did not work the second day. It went black screen on me and Amazon shipped me a replacement the very next day that has been perfect. I also went into the bios on the second one and enabled turbo mode and it works - no blue screens.
I spent all day loading up my gaming titles and look forward to playing on the go and around the house a lot more now. I was also pleased that 1080p YouTube worked flawlessly and my programs seem snappy. So far, so good, enjoying it. The kids love it too and like to change the keyboard to pink for the girls and incredible hulk green for the boys.
A fun toy, I hope to enjoy for a long time, and recommend.
Power packed mini. -- 2010-08-26 This review is for the R2 version.
I like power, but I also wanted something more portable. Having lugged around heavy machines, I really wanted something lightweight that could handle a majority of my computing needs, yet still have some "fun" factor when I wanted.
Earlier this year, I purchased a HP 311 netbook. Very lightweight machine, and it was equiped with a Nvidia ION chipset. I want to say the netbook accomplished most of my needs. It was capable of light work, and gaming. It had a decent run time of 5 hours. The size was so convenient, I found it easy to take with me wherever I went. The biggest problem was the limitation of ram, and when working with real business applications like Office, it would bog the machine down.
Back to searching for a new machine. The goals were 13" size screen. Some decent mid-range power, yet enough run time that I could go cordless without having to feel like I needed to plug in constantly. An important feature if you like to use the machine on plane trips.
Enter the Alienware M11x. This machine was priced out of my initial pricepoint, so I did not catch the original release earlier this year when I was researching new machines. In my recent research, there really was little to challenge this machine. I think the ASUS ul30 series may be the closest, but still doesn't offer the same video power.
This machine is a bit heavier than my HP 311, so it isn't quite as convenient to tote around, but it offers so much more power. A balance trade off that I'm willing to accept. The run time is even better than my HP 311 mini, although I would have liked to see a removeable battery. Neither the HP311 or this M11x has an optical drive, but I have several main machines, so this did not bother me one bit. I bought a LG GSA-E50L DVD USB powered burner that I keep in my backpack, but honestly, I've only used it a handful of occasions. The first time you pick up the tiny machine, you'll notice the chassis is solid and the surface has a nice feel.
This machine is more powerful than the full size notebook given to me by the company I work for. I just lock the other machine at my desk now and carry this as my portable. The Alienware lights don't necessarily display a "business" attitude, but it can be quickly disabled. I kind of discounted the lighted keyboard, but it does come in very handy when working in dark situations, or late in the evening in bed.
I splurged for the i7 processor and larger hard drive, but went with only 4GB of ram to avoid maxing out the price. The build of the laptop is very solid. The touchpad has a rough texture, and works better than the smooth surface of my hp311. The touchpad buttons depress very softly and have a nice feel. Only drawback is the size of the keys on the keyboard, but it is the tradeoff again in having such a small package.
LCD screen has a slight glossy look, which is great in most situations, but can be problematic with glare in others. The screen does not seem to quite match my previous HP in color or brightness, but it is still very good.
If you are really looking for a more complete gaming system, the Alienware M15x big brother may be a better choice, although at a very high price. Or if you are looking for a business class machine, I would suggest other options.
The M11x offers a mix of performance that I find works great as a personal machine for fun, yet has enough power to be used for business. The size, battery run time, and the build quality is great for the business warrior on the go. Just remember to disable the glowing lights for work.

Prime 1-Day Shipping SUCKS! -- 2010-08-28 WARNING: Amazon offers Prime 1-day delivery, yet they sent my package through UPS. UPS DOES NOT DELIVER ON WEEKENDS! I would not have placed an order if I had known Amazon could not hold up to its promises. 1-day delivery means ONE day, not four as is the case with my package. I now have $1,000 tied up for the next 4-weeks before Amazon will process my refund.

 | DELL LATITUDE D600 CENTRINO LAPTOP 512MB 30GB WIFI XP PRO 14" LCD LAPTOP
my first laptop -- 2010-07-08 Since I bought this so I could surf and work on my history and politics websites, this is 'just what the doctor ordered' so I can work outdoors when its not Winter here in NH.
Not Bad. Not bad At All! -- 2010-05-25 The Dell Latitude D600 is really a nice little laptop. It has numerous great features like built-in wifi capabilities, 512MB of memory, a highspeed processor that makes this laptop just speed along. I think its only flaws-- and minor ones too-- is the limiting 30 GB hard drive that can get filled up far too quickly and it's small screen. While 15.6 is a standard size, it can be hard to read sometimes nontheless.
Yet this laptop is a great bargain for the price as is. Still, once I got it I decided to upgrade the hard drive and get a mouse to replace the sometimes troublesome pointing stick. If you need a good laptop but don't have a major budget, this is the one to get.

 | Dell AX-3600GSL Adamo XPS 13.4-Inch Laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium)
beautiful machine and powerful -- 2010-08-19 This is a fantastic machine with plenty of power and a generous amount of beauty. I've had this laptop for about a month now and it works perfectly. I figured the machine would be a poor performer since my desktop is a quad core with 8 gb of ram but the little laptop has a decent amount of muscle behind it to go through many tasks. The hinge design actually makes typing very comfortable; I touch type so was very happy with this - one thing I wish they had done was put small indents on the F and J alumninum keys so you know where to place your hands without having to look down at the keyboard. The latch/lid design is fantastic and is more cool than practical but it does its purpose of keeping the lid closed. Battery life on this machine is very poor at around 2.5 hours when you put the battery performance mode to low. Nice machine, great power but poor with battery life. I use this plugged in for the most part so it's not too much of an issue but for those that want extreme portability you may want another laptop - then again this machine is all about how thin and sleek it is - and it definately is the thinnest laptop out there.
Light + Thin, Great for Travel + Work -- 2010-08-12 Simply the most luxurious laptop I have ever owned. Sleek aluminum casing with aluminum keys give this amazing laptop the feel of an indestructible machine while also giving it the elegance of a Macbook. At half the thickness of the Macbook Air, this is an ultra-portable that slips into any bag and weighing in at less than 3lbs is enough to take with you anywhere you go. Be the envy at the coffee shop as you boot up in less than 30 seconds with a solid state hard drive and connect wirelessly at speeds in excess of 300mb with its internal N card. Simply the best laptop I have ever owned, hands down.

great machine, great service -- 2010-09-02 This is an great machine for the price. I had a special request for delivery, and it was taken care of swiftly and efficiently. Thank you!
The last Dell I will ever buy. -- 2010-08-15 My wife and I have been loyal Dell customers over 10 years and four machines. All our previous machines have performed well and we have never had much reason to call customer service for anything. The few times we did (years and years ago) were reasonably pleasant experiences, though. My impression of Dell has always been that they are a solid company that produces solid products.
Not now.
This laptop, which is my wife's, has been nothing but a nightmare from day one. Pathetic battery life, hardware and software issues, trackpad problems, cursor jumping around, intermittent wireless problems, a shoddily-made machine with flimsy screen hinges that easily break.
Dell's customer service has been the absolute worst experience I have ever had with any company in my entire life. I started out trying to return the unit, but quickly found out that they count the number of days that you have had the computer as starting on the day you order the unit, not the day you receive it, so I was two days past the last day I could return the unit. After being transferred back and forth between two different departments who each thought the other department was supposed to help me, I finally found someone who understood the issue and said he would work on getting special approval to return the unit and then call me back. He also sent me an email. He never called back, never responded to emails, never answered the phone, never returned calls. Anyone else I talked to acted like they knew nothing and told me I could not return the unit. Then I tried to appeal to their business sense, by trying to exchange the unit for a higher model (figuring that if they saw I wanted to pay them more money, they would forgive the 2-day thing).
It took me two more weeks of calling every day to find a guy in their corporate customer service group who (even though he shouldn't have even helped me) agreed that what I wanted to do made good business sense and would help the company hold onto a loyal customer. It took him two more weeks to get what he told me was internal approval for the return (their system only allowed them to process it as a return, not a repair or replacement). He even CC'd me on the email where the manager approved the return and gave him instructions on how to process it. I was told I would receive a return code and instructions on how to return the unit for credit. A week went by--nothing. I called and emailed the guy over and over. No response. I finally got someone else who's email address was on the approval email to respond, who explained that the person who approved the return was in one of two different departments who had to approve the return. He said what everyone else always told me--that he would personally take responsibility for resolving my case. He gave me a phone number that was supposedly his direct number and an email. Never heard from him again. The phone number went to a generic mailbox.
After months of getting the runaround and taking every my lunch hour every day to sit on the phone while eating a sandwich, I simply gave up and decided it just wasn't worth it for a $560 laptop. We are already shopping for a replacement after 7 months of owning this thing. Guess who we won't be buying it from.
