 | LG 32LD350 32-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV
Not a monitor, but good for video -- 2010-08-30 I picked up this flat screen largely for the price for the size, as a starter set to replace my clunky old CRT screen, and I am happy I did.
While this set is apparently not energy-star compliant, but there are power-savings options that work by dimming the screen a bit. It's unnoticeable at the "minimum" setting, acceptable at the "medium" setting, and too dim at the "maximum" setting.
I was happy to see that the LG didn't leave out the SVGA-type PC video input. At the 32" screen size, 720p is really not dense enough to work as a monitor-replacement, and reading fine text will strain your eyes. However, it works very well for displaying streaming video like netflix or hulu. If you set it up as an "extended desktop," you can stream video full screen on the LG, and still work on your standard monitor at the same time.
Worked great... until it stopped working after an hour -- 2010-08-30 Ordered the tv about 2 weeks ago, came super quick since I'm an amazon prime member. Couldn't wait to play with it, but I had to put it back in the box after about an hour later so I could transport it to college. Moved into school yesterday and hooked up the cable and it worked great. Until it stopped working. Worked for literally about an hour until I turned it off and hooked up the wii and playstation. Went to turn it back on and found that the remote didn't work (even with new batteries) nor did the buttons on the side of the tv. Tried removing all of the cables that connected the game systems and cable, still nothing. Switched outlets, nothing. Occasionally it would turn on and be all fuzzy, but couldn't change channel or get a menu. Called LG to try to do some troubleshooting but couldn't actually understand the man on the phone (outsourced call center?) but he made arrangements for someone to come out and "service" the tv on Wednesday. In the mean time, I gave amazon a call and they are sending a new one, which will hopefully work if the repair guy can't fix it. Was really hoping for the easy tv that everyone claimed this was, but so far I've just had problems. It did work great...when it did actually work.

 | Panasonic VIERA TC-P50G25 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV
one of the best HDTV out there, but i would say the only one best considering value for money -- 2010-09-02 I bought this TV from electronics expo under 1000$ incl. tax.
I did a lot of research going back and forth between LCD back-lit and edge-lit TVs and those with 120/240Hz refresh rates and thats when i happened to notice this TV and the reviews mentioning burn in protection and energy efficiency and picture quality of this plasma.
before buying one for me, i got a chance to go to best buy and get one of the 50" G20 series for my in-laws and got a chance to play with that in shop.
I had nothing else to worry about when i saw a good deal for the 50" G25 online after two weeks.
Is been only a week since i bought the TV, but my experience is very good about the picture quality since then.also I am not worried about the power consumption since i happened to see some of the you tube videos showing energy usage from full black to white levels on Panasonic plasma.
Netflix is there since the last software update to version 3.00 and is working like a charm.Regarding the youtube playback,i am not sure if it automatically selects the highest resolution video if multiple resolutions are available.I havn't tried playing media from USB or SD-card storage. Also i have read in some reviews/descriptions online that this TV is capable of recording content to USB storage device.I will update the review as and when i try that.
[...]
I had been seeing some reviews mentioning a buzz sound coming from the TV, and what i noticed is that i can hear that when the TV is running more bright screens, like if I set picture mode to 'vivid'.
I personally prefer cool display rather than a very bright one and for me the THX, movie, standard settings seems more appropriate for best viewing experience. Also i don't think the buzzing is a fault in hardware, since any high voltage AC device has the possibility of producing electrical buzzing or humming in the audible range.
I had been looking for and 'am yet to find a blu-ray player to go along with this tv, i saw some panasonic players a good pick, but i think i am paying for the same features that i have on this tv like viera cast.It would have been good if they had some latest model players with just the features one would need when using with this tv, or else .. ohh..yeh i can choose a PS3.. :)
Nice...but -- 2010-09-01 I got the T.V. last night, I had visions of a perfect picture on every channel and I realize this has more to do with the cable company than with the T.V. but it should be known that my 15 year old rear projection has a much better picture than this T.V. has. The HD channels are awesome on the new one along with a couple others, but the bottom line is if I would have known the quality of non HD channels was going to be so much worse than the rear projection T.V. I might have waited a little longer. I was under the impression the picture quality would be "at least" as good as the best rear projection picture. I only bought a new T.V. cause the old one died so I don't feel to bad about my purchase. I think I would have been much more disappointed with a LCD judging by the in store diplays which are all in HD. In my opinion I would not "upgrade" just to keep up with the times. Don't get me wrong, I think this is a nice T.V, I have yet to try a DVD or watch a football game, but might just be 2010 challenged or picky. Just my 2 cents.

 | Samsung LN40C630 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV (Black)
Samsung LCD -- 2010-09-02 I purchased this set a few months ago for a much lower price (under $670). At that price I consider it a great deal. It was delivered by CEVA somewhat on-time (they did get the day correct) and it has performed flawlessly since setup. I have encountered none of the problems of other reviewers. After having used the set for some time now and comparing it to my Panasonic plasma which I have owned for 2.5 years, I can definitely comment on the differences. This Samsung looks good, HD over the air especially looks very good. But the image can be somewhat harsh and artificial when compared to the plasma. I have also noticed image stutter on it although I don't consider it a huge issue. I can say after comparison that I prefer the plasma. Apparently I got my Panny just before the rising black level issue took hold, because my set still looks as good as it did on day 1, excellent.
I would encourage anyone to look into the possibility of receiving HD over the air using an antenna. I purchased an indoor antenna from Monoprice when I bought the plasma but found after experimenting that on old telescoping antenna from an old TV worked just as well. If you are near the towers you can get very good stable reception and best of all it's FREE!!! Plus the signal is not subjected to another layer of processing and compression from your cable provider, it is coming directly from the station to the tower to you. Go to [...] and follow the instructions for determining your ability to receive HD OTA.
Also I mentioned Monoprice. Flat-out the BEST place to buy AV cables, adapters etc... I even purchased a internet router from them, very cheap, works like a champ.
Returning it to Amazon -- 2010-08-31 We always do a thorough review of big ticket items before purchase, so returning an expensive item is very unusual for us.
This set has some good features. We especially like the sound settings to send the music that frequently drowns out the dialogue to the background where it belongs. We also like the remote control which is easier to use than most.
BUT:
We do not have a cable box. The TV input comes from a direct condo-wide hookup. It is digital but not HD.
Most of the channels are cable channels; a few are local or "air" channels. Some TV's allow the channels to be scrolled seamlessly. This one divides the channels into two groups and several buttons need to be pressed to move from one to the oher.
However, the main problem for us is picture qualtiy. Not sharp; not clear; not vivid. Slightly blurry or runny. Average or worse. We have tried multiple settings including fine tuning on a channel by channel basis but the video is still unsatisfactory.
Perhaps this set works best with an HD input but that is not an option for us at this time.
We do note that the picture is significantly better when playing material from an attached computer which reinforces the idea that there is some sort of tuner issue or incompatibility.
In any event and unfortunately, it is on its way back to Amazon and we are doing more and deeper research before replacing it.

 | Samsung LN46C630 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV (Black)
Definitely Worth It -- 2010-09-03 Disclosure: This is my first HD TV.
Summary: Worth the money, buy it!
So I finally made the switch to HD and after hours of reviewing information online, I settled for this TV. Overall I'm really happy with it except for a few minor points:
- Remote: The remote doesn't work with my LG Blu-Ray player. I don't know why manufacturers insist on making their own proprietary format for remote controls codes, but none the less it is a short coming
- Lack of wireless connectivity: Although this TV does support ethernet, it requires an additional $60 adapter if you want it to connect wirelessly to the network. It is a shortcoming so make sure you are able to run a wire to the TV if you want to access networked content
- Update documentation: I tried to upgrade the firmware on this TV box and the documentation was nearly non-existent. Also it only works from a Windows based box, sorry for you Mac/Linux lovers out there!
Overall though, I am extremely happy about everything else with this TV. The delivery guys even unboxed/set it up for my GF while I was away at work.
Great Picture, Great Value -- 2010-09-01 We are very happy with this TV, which we have been watching for over a month now. The picture quality was outstanding right out of the box, hooked up to digital cable. Very minimal tweaking of picture settings needed to deliver an outstanding image. After doing all the research on the latest and greatest out there (LED, and in particular, true full array LED backlighting) I looked at the image quality of this TV at a local store and could not justify the extra $400+ for it. While I don't claim to be an expert, I find the contrast and blacks to be very good on this TV, and the overall image and color quality are excellent. The style of this TV is also nice and sleek, and I especially like the ease of pivoting the TV on its stand, which is a cool translucent cylinder. My regular old DVD player looks great playing on this TV, and the HD content on digital cable blew me away. I find the sound quality good, but it is not going to deliver the big cinema sound that many folks are coming to expect (just like most TVs these days). Amazon's delivery on this was a little slow (with free shipping it was a full two weeks for delivery), but I was very happy with the delivery service. They unboxed it, assembled the stand and hooked it up to my cable and DVD.

 | LG 42LD550 42-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LCD HDTV
Excellent TV for the price -- 2010-09-03 I have owned this TV for a couple of months now and have enjoyed it immensely. I love the ability to stream Netflix and Vudu from the TV without an additional box involved and the wireless dongle has excellent signal pickup. The TV gives the user the ability to automatically adjust the picture quality for the ambient light conditions in the room and it also has a very robust set of color and sharpness controls. One down side is it only gives the blue color range, brightness and contrast, no red or green.
With multiple HDMI (4) inputs, composite connections, and a digital optical out, the TV has plenty of options for just about anyone.
What an Upgrade! -- 2010-09-02 I saw this TV model in stores, and really was impressed with the picture quality.
I got on Amazon and was even more impressed with the price it was available at.
I'm now extremely pleased with my purchase. What an upgrade from a 27" 4:3 CRT television, even though I considered that CRT to be really good quality in the picture department. I'm using this TV in a room that gets a lot of daylight via a large patio door. Glare is not an issue, and so much better than with the old CRT.
Sound is pretty good through the built in speakers, although I spend most of the time watching with the sound run through a separate sound system.
The Internet "widgets" are just fluff to me, and I haven't used them. My other equipment already support Netflix and Pandora, which are the two things I ever want to use via my home theater. But I really don't feel like I paid extra for them being on the TV, as other TV's without them, but with comparable reviews to this model, were not significantly different in price.
I like to fiddle with settings, and have to say one thing I wish was better is documentation about all the picture settings available on this TV. There are many settings if you care to dig into them, but the manual does not explain all of them very well. There are also some settings that aren't always available (visible, but grayed out in the menu), but no explanation as to why is given in the manual. But there is a "Picture Wizard" tool built in to the TV, which got the picture pretty close to what I wanted, and I was able to get it the rest of the way on my own.
Overall, I don't think one can go wrong with this television. For the price point, I think it's a winner.

 | Samsung PN42C450 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV (Black)
Great Purchase -- 2010-08-30 I agree with most post this TV is a great deal for the money the only down fall is the stand and the screws!!!! Was the biggest pain to put together and like they said some are still not in all the way. I will be looking for a wall mount i think for this. Also does the remote not light up my other samsung remote has a button which lights up the channel and volume button etc, but could not find it on this one. Overall great TV very pleased!!!
AMAZED -- 2010-08-30 WOW Love, love love it!!!!! what a great picture. can't believe the price. All went well with shipping, and the tv itself is fantastic.

 | Panasonic TC-L32X2 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV with iPod Dock
32" Flat Screen for Daughter -- 2010-09-03 The purchase was a gift for my daughter graduating college, finding a job, and moving to her new apartment. I've only seen it occasionally, but it lived-up to its recommendations (my research), especially for its price (Amazon).
Didn't last long -- 2010-08-31 Unfortunately after having this television for only 3 months it started to shut down after watching it for a few hours and would not turn on for more than 10 seconds. The television would not come back on for 45 min, minimum. Its disappointing to spend nearly $400 on a brand new top brand television only to have it sitting in the repair shop for more than 3 weeks and counting. I do not recommend buying this brand.

 | LG 47LE5400 47-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV
Amazing TV, great price~! -- 2010-09-03 Prior to this TV we had a 40' Sony XBR2 LED which I love and was moved to the bedroom with this purchase. After reading reviews and taking stock of the features of this TV I decided to take the plunge and get the LG. I had purchased an LG monitor last year and loved it, and this TV lives up to that purchase. The picture is incredible first off. I went in to Best Buy and compared it to all the high-end models, and this one held it's own against Samsung's and Sony's, for half the price. It looks like the price has gone up a bit here since I purchased it, but that's because they sold out thru amazon and are being sold by another vendor here.
I loved the connectivity features of this TV. It had netflix streaming, vuduo and widgets. It has plenty of HDMI ports. One thing I did NOT like was that it only has an optical out. I fixed this problem by purchasing a Gefen Gtv-digaud-2aaud Digital-to-analog Audio Adapterwhich works perfectly. I simply connected the optical to this from TV, then stereo cables to my surround system. Problem solved. I also didn't like that it didn't have an S-video cable. I solved this by getting Pyle Home PCVHDM49 Composite Video and S-Video to HDMI Converter which works great when I connect my old videogame systems to it. I got mine in an Amazon promotion that included LG AN-WL100W Wireless Media Kit, which I was skeptical about. It actually works great, with one caveat: you cannot have a 5ghz router nearby, as it seems to interfere with the signal. Also, If you have a Logitech Harmony one remote this Tv has all kinds of problems switching inputs. It's a long story but suffice to say myself and logitech tech support couldn't get it to work.
I love the video quality with blu-ray, and the 24hz with blu ray works great. All in all I would def recommend this, especially for those who are looking for a good value.
Bad for video games, LG has HORRIBLE customer service -- 2010-09-02 I generally don't play video games, but I like the DDR game and tried to play it on this TV. I first tried to play in on a PS2 and there was a noticeable delay between when you step on the mat and matching the arrows on the screen. We thought it might be a problem with the game. So my sister tried the same game on her PS2 on a different TV and it worked fine. So then we assumed that there was something wrong with the PS2. It didn't occur to us that there might be an issue with the TV.
We just bought a Wii and bought a new DDR game for the Wii. It has the exact same problem. The Wii, the game, and the mat are all brand new and it has the same problem as the game on the PS2. I did a little more research about this model and found other people having the same issues with this TV.
I called LG to ask about this issue and was treated like crap by one of their customer service reps. He told me that there was no issue with the TV and that it was the video game that had a problem. This was after I explained to him that we tried two different games, on two different systems, and had the same problems with both. We also tried the same systems and same games on a different TV and they worked fine. So, no the problem is not with the games. I asked him to speak to someone else because I didn't appreciate the awful attitude he was giving me. He said I was welcome to hang up and call back to speak to someone else and he refused to transfer me.
All I was trying to do was find out why this TV is having this issue (that many other people are having) and what they were willing to do to correct it. I can't believe this is how they treat their customers.
So I'm giving this TV a one-star rating because LG is a horrible company to deal with when you have a customer service or technical issue. I would not recommend buying any LG product because of this experience.
Yes, this TV has a great picture, but it's not worth the money to have to put up with LG's "customer service."

 | Westinghouse LD-3255VX 32-Inch 720p LED HDTV, Black
Junk. It stopped working after 4 hours use. DO NOT BUY WESTINGHOUSE EVER!!!!! -- 2010-09-03 I thought it great for 4 hours. So it was functional in a normal environment of DVD and DTV use for 4 hours. Then it made some horrible noice during one TV broadcast the first night I had it. I could not shut it down with the remote and had to pull the plug. It came back up and was fine and even played a DVD. It did not do anything with a USB flash drive despite haveing a port. The next day after I first got it, it started to play a DTV station and was fine, but started to make loud statacco noises and froze failing to respond to the remote again. I repowered and it soon failed again. This time it showed grey and white bars on the screen. And the next repower it did nothing but show the "Westinghouse" logo for a few seconds. I beleive that this is a junk and has had no quality control. Plainly it can play DVD and Digital TV but if it fails in 24 hours in a normal home situation (one HDTV input and digital antenna) showing highly distorted audio before dying, it is not something anybody quality controlled on USA soil. Westinghouse, you must be purely a brand name worth nothing now. THey have sold their brand to folks with no quality control. Amazon should be ashamed to sell it and I will forget the brand name I knew and bury Westinghouse for dead and forever.
Fantastic Picture -- 2010-09-02 After reading all of the reviews I decided to go ahead and purchase this TV (I had been holding out waiting for the 42" to come down in price); The picture quality is unbelievable. I can't believe the contrast between it and the Westinghouce LCD that I bought a couple of years ago. It is brillant.
However, my old Westinghouse sound quality is far superior to this one. When I walk from my livng room to my bedroom the difference in sound quality floors me. I can't believe how "tinny" any kind of music sounds (TV programs theme songs, etc) on this new TV. I tried adjusting the treble and the bass with no discernable difference. Since I am not a techy and have no "surround sound" system can anyone suggest settings that I can adjust to get rid of this "tinny" sound? The volume is not the problem, but I guess in singing it would be called the pitch that is the problem.

 | Samsung LN32C450 32-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black)
You need to have HD devices -- 2010-08-30 I'm very happy with this TV other than the fact that without HD devices the picture is a lil darker than most. I did clear the picture up some after playing with the adjustments for a while. But in all, still very happy and a good purchase. Great job Amazon getting my TV to me quick. Oh and I wanted to thank Fed Ex as well. I wasn't home when they tryed to deliver the TV and instead of taking it back to the warehouse, the driver went well out of his way to get it back to me at the end of his route. Kudos to you!
Great TV and a Great Deal from Amazon! -- 2010-08-24 I purchased this TV today and realized that it was $20 cheaper than I planned on purchasing it for in the first place. In stores, the LN32C450 goes for $444 (the cheapest I have seen it) plus tax! I almost fell out of my chair when I realized that the price went down and ordered it immediately. Thanks to Amazon Prime, it will be here tomorrow and I will update as to the quality :) LOVE YOU AMAZON!!!
