Just Awful -- 2010-09-07
This is the first time I have ever given a product a one star review. The wireless setup for this printer is horrible. Once I did have the setup complete (or so I thought) I was happily printing Word documents and PDF files - until I tried to print a PDF with graphics in it. I spent hours trying to determine the cause of this problem (installing updated drivers from the product's website, etc.). Finally, I gave up on having a wireless printer. I uninstalled the printer software, and reinstalled it with the USB connection (USB cable not included). Finally I can print PDF files with graphics. Unless you have another printer to use when this one quits, I would NOT recommend this printer.

Great product, lousy set up process -- 2010-09-03
This is a nice, budget-friendly laser printer with a lot of networking options. Unfortunately, setting these options up with the included software is a royal pain. I have a simple wireless home network with a Linksys router and two laptops, and it took me 6 hours to get the printer working properly, mainly because I foolishly followed the included documentation and setup software. If setting up your printer near your router, ignore the wireless network option and go straight for the wired network. After 6 hours, I could not get the wireless and wired options to work because the driver setup would not detect the printer. I read online an alternate way to set up using the wired network, and it worked perfectly.

For those interested in buying this printer for a simple wireless setup like mine, you'll save yourself some headache by installing the BRAdmin Light program included on the driver CD and running it to ensure it detects the printer. Plug your printer into your router using an ethernet cable. You should then be able to install the drivers using the wired network option and providing the IP for the printer (can be found using the BRAdmin program). This works on XP and Vista. I never did get the completely wireless setup to work, but since my printer is right next to the router, I really don't need to.

Print speed is decent, the monochrome print quality is good, and the compact size is nice. No autoduplex though, which is to be expected at this price. I also found generic high yield toner cartridges for about $20 after shipping on Amazon, so all in all, its a good pickup.

Compatible with Mac - not bad printer for price -- 2010-09-06
I just bought this printer from Best Buy earlier today. As a result, my review won't be able to touch upon the longevity of the printer.

However, I'm writing this review to mention a couple important details.

One, it is compatible with Mac OS X. The driver install disk included version 2.0, but I found 3.0 online. I had no problem connecting it to my wireless network (which I have setup with Airport Extreme). If you are having any trouble, go to youtube and search for "mac wireless setup - hp laserjet p1102w" (unfortunately, it doesn't seem that I'm allowed to directly link to it in my review).

Two, I initially struggled with manual duplex over the network, until I found a solution on the apple discussion forums. While the solution is easy (namely, lifting and then closing the lid), it is annoying that it doesn't work automatically. I'm not sure if HP ever plans to actually fix this issue, but at least I can now have manual duplex.

As a printer, it's relatively inexpensive and works fine. It's not too large which is nice. It does exactly what I need for now, but in a couple years when I can afford it, I'll probably purchase a higher-end printer. As an standard monochrome laser printer, I can't complain. I really wish it had automatic duplex, but I didn't really have many other options at Best Buy (I needed it right away, otherwise I probably would have bought the Brother HL-5340D printer).

Great machine - wireless setup wasn't easy.... -- 2010-09-05
The directions for a Mac wireless setup was difficult. The directions were not clear at all. It took me about 45 minutes to finally get it working. After the setup though, everything works flawlessly - it's a very easy setup. If it weren't for the difficult setup, this product would have received 5 stars.

Don't buy it without the cord! -- 2010-09-01
Until the printer arrived, there was no indication that the UBS cord had to be purchased separately. The shipper claimed it wasn't his fault: Samsung doesn't include it. While I love the printer, the fact I had to waste time and money buying the cord to use the printer was very upsetting. I would have thought twice had I known.

Great bargain laser -- 2010-08-25
My son spilled root beer into my venerable HP LaserJet 4L and ruined it. That printer was a workhorse, but it was slow.

The Samsung is working just as hard, but at speeds reasonably close to those advertised. Its niggles are that it uses a paper loading flap rather than a tray, and that the output tray is pretty flimsy.

For $50, I have no complaints. That's about what I was paying for ink cartridges for my Canon, and it burned through ink like a teenaged driver through gas.

Fast, clear, worth the price -- 2010-08-25
A fast printer with crisp text and surprisingly nice black and white photo reproduction on regular paper for casual or temporary use. Be careful with hookup: I had many problems until I switched from one usb port on my PC to another (perhaps trouble with my PC, but I was told this printer requires high level communication between PC and printer so good connection is important). Ability to automatically print on both sides of sheet works very well for me and is a major attraction. No trouble with paper feeding. Envelope printing works OK for me but takes a little practice to correctly feed envelope in proper tray; once mastered it is fine for my purposes--if not "professional" quality some may demand--but certainly not bad at all and quite acceptable. Contrary to the experience of a one-star reviewer here, my printer came with a starter ink cartridge--not a full-size cartride but it has gotten me through several hundreds of documents of printing and is still going. (No usb cale, though) Ability to sleep when idle and then wake up immediately is welcome. Read the manual for many specific features to know about and learn how to use. Don't give up on learning fine points of on-screen preference menus that printer driver allows. It's worthwhile to experiment with finding choices and trying different ones. I can't comment on longevity or long-term operation and cost. Tech support was readily available; though they didnt solve my hookup problem they sort of pointed me in the right direction that allowed me to solve the USB issue on my own. Thank heaven I didn't immediately return unit. Once USB issue was resolved I became very happy with unit and wouln't want to have given it up.

Didn't Include Starter Toner -- 2010-08-19
BEWARE: The printer doesn't include a starter toner - you must buy a regular cartridge to use with the printer. I will update once I buy the toner and can use the darn thing.

Brother HL-5370DW Laser Printer with Wireless Networking and DuplexBrother HL-5370DW Laser Printer with Wireless Networking and Duplex

I like it -- 2010-08-29
Easy to set up and the print quality is excellent. One week after it was delivered Office Depot had it on sale for $42.00 less than I paid Amazon. Oh well!

Solid replacement HL-5250DN -- 2010-08-29
This successor model, HL-5370DW, replaces my Brother HL-5250DN and has essentially the same capabilities/feature set as it had. The HL-5250DN served me well for several years, but developed a problem with an inability to pick up the top sheet of paper from the tray. I had been getting by with a work-a-round by just stacking 20-30 sheets in the upper feed tray which worked well for more than a year and then that paper source developed the same problem.

Since the HL-5250DN had proven quite servicable as a home/personal printer (attached to my computer and 'shared' over the home network), except for the aforementioned problem, I replaced it with this one and hope that this doesn't develop the feed issue that the other one had. I had not used the HL-5250DN as a network printer and haven't tried the HL-5370DW in that mode either so I can not speak to how either functions in that mode.

Cheap, functional, and easy to set up -- 2010-08-26
I just got it yesterday and as a college student it's just what I needed for printing all the lecture material for my classes. I love the duplex feature because it'll save me paper. It's also pretty compact for a laser printer. The only downside is it only prints in black and white, but it's price evens that out. If I needed to print in color I guess I'd just use my old inkjet printer.

Samsung ML-2851ND Laser Printer -- 2010-05-06
This is a very good printer. It's fast and the output looks great. The built-in duplexing is terrific and has saved me a great deal of paper. There's one problem - it goes to sleep after a period of idleness and I can't wake it up without turning it off and back on again, which is inconvenient. I posted a question to Samsung about this but haven't heard back. Other than that, I recommend it.

Great little printer, I just wish the wireless stayed on -- 2010-09-09
The short: This is a really nice, compact, laser printer with an attractive housing and a decent speed, but the wireless connectivity is flaky and unreliable.

There are other reviews complaining about wireless issues, etc. I am in a mixed-operating-system household (2 macs and 1 windows laptop). I was able to get the printer to connect to my wireless network (with WPA2 encryption) without trouble.

The printer always gives me an "Excellent" status for the signal strength (it's about 6 feet away from the router); however, if I don't print anything for a few minutes, it disappears from the network. Power-cycling the printer brings it back online again.

My guess is it's an issue with WOL (Wake On LAN) or some sort of power-saving state that the printer gets stuck in.

I'm giving it 4 stars. If I figure out the wireless issues, it will be 5.

Awesome printer but wifi MAC set up is easier said than done sometimes -- 2010-09-03
The printer itself is impressive, quick and quiet. I couldn't have asked for more in a mono laserjet. The only bummer is that most reviewers are right, setting up the wifi printing on a MAC is a little difficult. The Samsung software never actually gets it done and you're forced to use some of their other weird apps on the CD.

Long story short: set up the MAC using the software, use the troubleshooter information to find out how you determine the printer's IP address, then go to System Preferences --> Print & Fax --> Add Printer

Protocol: HP Jetdirect - Socket
Address: IP address of the printer (you can set it's IP address using an app on the CD, read the troubleshooter)
Queue: (Leave blank)
Name: Automatic but you can change it
Location: (Leave blank)
Print Using: "Select printer software" and find Samsung ML-2525W

Enjoy!

Anti-Apple (Snow) Great Printer -- 2010-08-24
Just as the title says: It's a great printer, but I have absolutely NO support from HP when it comes to controlling the settings. If I want to utilize the ECONO or QUIET mode, adjust the resolution, jam settings... None of this standard control is available for Mac Users. You're essentially stuck using the printer with its default settings. Regardless of who is to blame, if you're a current Apple user and you're in the market for a new LaserJet, this printer should not be on your list.

Great Printer -- 2010-07-04
Ordered this Printer through Amazon from one of its preferred vendors. The printer came on time and has worked great. Its print speed is amazing. It begins spitting out the paper as soon as you hit the print button. It is that fast! I would recommend it to anyone.

do not buy this printer -- 2010-09-08
I just threw away two of these printers. Both had 2000 pages on them 18 months old. Samsung couldn't help, out of warranty. too costly to fix. I can't believe they are still selling these. The paper stops when half printed. everyone says its a paper jam. The paper is not jammed, the printer quits printing. probably a bad sensor. NO MORE SAMSUNG PRINTERS FOR ME. BACK TO GOOD OLE HP.

USB cable was not included in the package. So I went elsewhere to get them for

additional $20. I haven't tried them yet.

Printer jammed after 25k pages, pages come out like waffles -- 2010-08-04
I have 2 of these in my office and was thrilled at first, they are fast and easy to set up really. I'm not sure whats up with HP lately. I've got plenty of warranty on the printer, but they won't back it up at all. I've called in twice now to see if I can get it serviced, but no luck, they keep making an excuse that they won't take the printer back to service it. They just tell you to run the auto clean program and switch the ink cartridge. I tried changing cartridges, cleaned everything inside, but it turns all of my paper into rolled up dog eared lumps and they refuse to service it.

I'm bummed.

A nice printer, but mine had a quality issue. -- 2010-07-13
I ordered this printer because I was looking for one which would allow me to print envelopes without having to flip a door down in the back of the printer to create a straighter paper path. I use this printer under my desk and I wanted all of the outputs to end up at the top. This model prints envelopes perfectly. It's a little louder than most printers, but it's still acceptable. The automatic duplexing feature is very nice, and will help to cut down my paper usage. I did have one issue with print quality that I'm working with HP to resolve. The printed image has a grey cast over the entire page, as if something isn't quite right with the drum. I'll be sure to come back an edit this review once I find out what the problem is. I'm not that worried about it, as I'm sure HP will make good on this. Would have liked to have wireless networking too, like some of the Brother units in this price range.
