Samsung P2570HD, no replacement for special deal price -- 2010-08-28
The TV image is great. Unfortunate, the shipping was not. The nice front bezel got damage and had a long crack on it. Furthermore, Amazon has a no replacement policy for special price deal, only can return the damage TV for refund -- cannot get this TV at this price anymore.

Samsung P2570HD Review 081810 -- 2010-08-18
I've had this monitor/TV for about 2 months now. All in all it is a good value, but the two issues raised by other reviewers - the on/off buttons (with this unit there is no real "button", but an area in the lower right of the bezel that is sensitive to touch) don't work as consistently as a good old fashion on/off button, and the lack of an adustable stand means I need to get a mount or put this thing on a box to get it to the right height. I think if you want to use this more as an entertainment monitor in a bedroom or guest room, perhaps, it would be great. Digital video (HD cable and Blue Ray discs) looks great! SD looks like crap. Computer input over VGA looks very good also. But as a workhorse, everyday, desktop display for computer based work, the Samsung 2443 I have right next to the 2570 blows it away! But of course the 2443 isn't an LCD TV as well.
Is there a SyncMaster that also has a tuner in it?

Excellent Monitor -- 2010-08-22
I got this monitor used to replace my Dell 2001FP. This monitor has very accurate colors (just like the Dell) but the contrast and color saturation is much much better. The one I have is actually a refurbished. I prefer the refurbished b/c it probably has manufactering issues hammered out. Apple is know for their excellent refurbished monitors.

I have had no problems with the monitor but I recommend Applecare for all Apple products. In the even your product fails you will get great service.

Apple Cinema Display 24" Failed 38 days out of warranty -- 2010-08-21
I purchased my Apple Cinema 24" LED July 15, 2009. It has been having display problems for 9 months, but I am busy and the work around was to unplug it and when plugged back in it worked. I though I has a software "Sleep" issue and planned to work on the problem when I had time. Well 3 days ago it stopped working completely. Today I finally had time to call Apple. My display was out of warranty by 38 days. Since I purchased it after I purchased 2 Mac Book Pros they could not include it on my Apple Care Plans. If you Google this monitor, you will find a great many people have this same problem. Apple has some quality control issues with this display, but they will not fix it due to the technicality of being 38 days out of warranty. In the past 24 months I have purchased 2 Mac Book Pros (MAX OUT), Cinema Display, Air Mouse, Key Board, iLife, iWork, 2 iPhone 3Gs, and me Family Plan. I am a home builder and though my warranty is 2 years, I have never turned down fixing a client's problem if it was due to my work or materials even 10 years later. I guess that is what don't have much money in the bank and Apple has Billions. They are smarter than me.

Excellent at this price point -- 2010-08-25
I wanted a large monitor to use at my desk with my 13" macbook. I didn't have the $$$ for an Apple LED Cinema Display 24-Inch MB382LL/A so I settled on this after reading a lot of reviews online.

The good:

1) Beautifully styled. I just love the sleek look of this monitor! The "touch of red" around the edges doesn't bother me at all, though for some people they find it annoying.

2) Excellent menu system, easy to navigate. There are a lot of user-controlled settings that are easy to adjust.

3) Very sturdy stand. The monitor has very little wobble to it even if you intentionally try to push it around.

4) At this price point, the quality of the display is excellent. There's no discernable lag and the black is decent. Is it as good as the monitor on my laptop? Would it be satisfactory for a professional graphic designer? NO way. I dim the monitor on my laptop and don't use it, because to go from one to the other makes the difference in image quality that much more obvious. But for this price what can you expect?

5) Outstanding connection options. I use this monitor with my laptop, as a TV, and to connect gaming systems and cameras to.

The bad:

1) The stand has no capacity for adjustment. You're stuck with the height and the tilt of it. Fortunately for me, the height is not a problem at all, and unless you're a giant or a "little person" it's probably just fine for you.

2) If you ever decide to pack it back up into its box (to sell it or if you move), you really have to put a lot of muscle into detaching the stem of the stand from the back of the monitor. It does eventually come out, but boy does it take some doing.

3) Fingerprints show up really easily along the edges, i.e. if you use the "buttons" on the monitor itself. I use the remote to turn it on and off to avoid this.

This TV is not our main TV. The only problem that I have with this TV (for our type of use) is the SOUND. I am now looking to buy an external TV sound system for a TV that was suppose to be just for a bedroom. I suggest you do not buy this TV for someone that is older and hard of hearing UNLESS you additionally purchase a sound system for them!

great monitor but: -- 2010-07-30
I bought this monitor after some research, but the reviews sold me, so i gave it a try. Hooked it up and loved it. However, after about 40 days, a vertical red line appeared stretching from the bottom of the screen all the way to the top. Called amazon, customer service said there was nothing they could do for me since it was past 30 days, but gave me the number to tech support at hp. I figured i'd get the call center in India, and I was right. After talking to an Indian guy named Bob for 30 minutes, unplugging the monitor and then plugging it back in, disconnecting the vga cable and then connecting it back up, you know, to make sure I wasn't seeing things, he told me my monitor was damaged, no, really. He told me that they would send me out a "like new" monitor and when I got it, to send the damaged one back to them. When I questioned "Bob" as to why they weren't sending me a "new new" monitor, he told me that was their policy. After demanding to speak to Bob's boss, I finally got switched over to America, and talked to Todd. He sent me out return labels and a new new monitor, an hp2310m which i am told is the replacement for the 2338. It looks almost identical, and has a great picture. Hat's off to hp and Todd for making me a happy customer, well worth the 30 minute chat with Bob first.

Poor quality from a good design -- 2010-07-30
Purchased four months ago to add to a Dell laptop. Liked the design and sharp looks, even the keyboard storage stand was great. Color reproduction using HDMI was acceptable for its primary use (wordprocessing) and even pretty decent for high-end graphics games. HOWEVER...after four months, a blue vertical line developed mid-screen, followed a few hours later by a red one...pixel lines already crashing HP? The monitor indicates only 270 hours of use (less then 7 work weeks) and it's already junk? It seems this isn't an isolated issue with this monitor, as several other reviewers report similar issues in short order. As this is the second HP monitor to have this issue, I think its time to switch to Dell.

the monitor by itself is great but...................? -- 2010-05-13
the monititor itself is just great. it doesn't say hd on it anywhere and if it isn't it might as well be. the picture is clear, bright and crisp. the problem i have at least with the one i have is the the stupid pain in my ass base stand? the stand keeps coming apart if you move the monitor to wipe and clean the computer desk? it is very irritating and bothersome to put it back together as there is a power cord and a cable connected to it and it is off balanced. major pain in the ass. but like i said the monitor itself is really nice. so just don't move it to clean your desk? lol!

Nice screen -- 2010-04-26
I bought this to go with my new HP computer and it matches perfectly. The picture is crisp and clear. The sound is decent as long as you don't plan on using this screen for an entertainment center. Sometimes I've noticed that some of the movies that I watch are just a little too quiet and I'll have the screen turned all the way up as well as on the computer. But I love that you don't need speakers that take up extra space to have sound with your computer. so, for me, it equals out.

Died after 3 months to the day -- 2010-08-26
The monitor was sufficiently OK for the money until this morning when it wouldn't display anything but black. No menus, no video, just audio, no matter what input (DVI, VGA, or HDMI). Tried several computers and video cameras to no avail; the monitor is plugged into an APC UPS, so a power surge is unlikely, especially since all the other electronic equipment connected to that same backup system are still fine. I contacted customer support and they told me that they'll send out a replacement monitor. Let's see how long that one will last and who'll pick up the cost for shipping the broken one back for recycling. From a video quality perspective, a Cinema display handily beats this monitor, but that's like saying that a BMW outperforms a Ford Fiesta. It's a fine display for casual use when it is working.

Great Nonitor -- 2010-07-22
I bought this one as a matched pair to the one I had - it's an excellent monitor.

Happy -- 2010-08-11
This is the third one of these that I've bought. Yeah, I'm a nerd with three machines at home. I did that because of customer satisfaction (I'm happy) with the product and the price point. I'd extend that comment to include Samsung flat-screen TV's, of which I have a big one and a smaller one. Also, I love this family-owned fine company as two decades ago I had been introduced to it by Ike Lee (their US behind-the-scenes magician). Thanks Samsung. Keep it up.

I thought it was nice... but... -- 2010-06-25
Well, when I decided to buy this I had gone through some of the reviews, but apparently not enough negative ones. The negative ones that say about the monitor basically dying and turning itself off is exactly what is happening to me, and rather than having it for a year I've only had it for 2-3 months.

The first monitor that came to me would not turn on no matter what I did (I also used my own power cable in case it was just that with no success). So I returned it and decided to have them just replace it... which I am now regretting. Since moving in to a new apartment it has decided when it wants to turn itself off. Even when I am in the middle of using my computer (looking on the internet, etc) it'll just go black and turn itself off. I wasn't sure if it was because I only had it connected via Analog (because my computer is older and doesn't have Digital), but it sounds like this is not uncommon for this monitor. It just totally sucks that mine decided to turn to crap after 2 months.

I haven't decided what I'm going to do about it because the other reviews that said they called Samsung directly sounded like they had limited success... but I also don't want to blow the money that I spent on this goodbye.

So overall... DON'T buy this!

Dell SP2309W 23-Inch LCD Widescreen MonitorDell SP2309W 23-Inch LCD Widescreen Monitor

A Marriage of Power and Beauty -- 2010-08-22
I did a lot of research before settling on Dell's SP2309W. One of my favorite reviews was the one done by Cnet when the monitor first came out a couple of years ago: [...]

I got my SP2309W via the Dell website for only $199 and free shipping (Dell had a sale going on), and the monitor lived up to its reviews. It's everything I wanted in a monitor. The geek in me love the resolution which is a whopping 2048 x 1152, the intuitive menu, the fast response rate, the 5 USB ports, the various connectors (VGA, DVI, HDMI), a contrast ratio of 80,000: 1, the flexibility of the monitor to be tilted till it's flat on it's base (easy to access the cables), the ability to raise its height up to 4 inches, and rotate 360 degrees! And the woman in me just love the elegance and beauty of its design - from the swivel, to the sleek base, to the glossy finish, and thin frame (work of art, I say!). Another added bonus is it comes with mic and web-cam built in for video conferencing and the transmission is really nice. A true combination of power and beauty.

I love the monitor so much, I bought 2 more, can you believe that! Only to realize when they were all sitting in front of me, I don't have space on my desk for 6144 pixels of horizontal visual. Just 2 of them are enough for most people to work with.

As a researcher, I like the fact that I can open up multiple academic papers and place them side by side for synthesizing massive amounts of information. As an instructional designer, I have so much horizontal space to manipulate the timeline, palettes, and tools in softwares like Flash and Captivate. I can have multiple softwares open and work with them visually instead of finding them buried under one another.

Ok I'll stop gushing now, and just end off by saying that this monitor really gives you a bang for the buck. Oh, and one last thing, don't confuse this monitor with its lesser sister, S2309W, which is cheaper but has a lower reolution and only 1000:1 contrast ratio.

Excellent monitor & value -- 2010-05-20
My husband was experiencing eye strain, and the monitor he had was beginning to fail, so I went shopping for a new monitor. I didn't originally intend to buy an HD monitor, but for the price versus size, plus an HD display, this monitor was an obvious choice.

My husband primarily uses it for CAD drawing, sometimes in marathon sessions. It has significantly reduced his eye strain, allowing him to work much longer, and in great detail. The screen is glossy, but it seems to have some sort of anti-glare factor to it. The work station has a huge patio-size window behind it with indirect sunlight, and neither of us notices much glare or reflection on the screen.

Video is definitely improved and looks beautiful on this screen, from low-def to HD. The size and definition make this montior an excellent option for those with vision deficits or for anyone who needs to get up close and personal with images, games and video. Hubby plays strategy games in his spare time, and even the older games look better on this monitor.

It's well-packed, and the most complicated part of set-up is taking off all the wrapping. After that, just set it on your desk, plug and play-- no messy drivers to install. I think it's possible to wall-mount it, but I don't know many people who do that with a monitor. You may need to elevate it on an additional stand depending on your individual needs, but it tilts and is otherwise very adjustable.

The power button is touch-sensitive and in the lower right corner, with 2 USB ports on the left side of the screen. The USB ports make it easy to plug in peripherals if all the ports on your computer are in the back, or if your workstation is set up in such a way that ports in front are not quite as accessible. they were a nice extra on what was already an outstanding monitor.

You won't get much more bang for your buck than this. When you spend a lot of time on a computer, investing in a monitor that keeps eye strain to a minimum is very important. Also, when you're spending so much time looking at it, why not get something that is a pleasure to use? My only complaint is that I don't have one for my own personal use-- yet. I recommend this monitor without hesitation.

The sounds sucks -- 2010-07-27
The picture (VGA) on this monitor is very good. But the sound though the built in monitor speakers it terrible. I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN MY MONEY BACK, MY FAULT, BECAUSE I DIDN'T. Do not waste your money.

AWESOME MONITOR -- 2010-07-20
Great quality! The only think that would have make it better, is if it had HDMI port

Nice monitor. Had to adjust the resolution as I was getting some flickering but after I did it looks great. Maybe not as good as my ACER but for the price it's great. Plug it in and go. How easy is that.

DOA -- 2010-04-14
My monitor was DOA, so there's not much to review. I returned it for a nice ASUS model, which I'm very happy with. Overall, I'd skip this and maybe upgrade just a little to something nicer.
