 | Kodak EasyShare C182 Digital Camera (Blue)
If you like plastic.... -- 2010-08-27 I bought this camera because I wanted a cheap point-and-shoot. And that's what I got..a cheap camera. I thought I was going to break off the top of the battery compartment just to put the batteries in. I guess I should have added this first...it didn't work right out of the box. Tried multiple batteries with no success. Sent it back to Amazon the next day. I did get excellent service from Amazon and a fast, full refund.
Go for a better brand and save yourself frustration -- 2010-08-18 One Word - Don't
CD80, CD82 and CD182 -- all related models of the same camera are not worth even the inexpensive price.
I bought this as an entry-level camera for my daughter - only to discover photos have significant "noise" (little black spots and under-exposed backgrounds), it drains batteries faster than a cigarette burns (zoom lens is a huge drain), and they suffer from an electronic power switch that randomly refuses to turn the camera on.
Imagine needing to take a photo and having to remove/reinstall the batteries just to turn the camera back on.
Kodak's customer support failed to repair the problem and insists customers use expensive NiMH or Lithium batteries to resolve the power switch problem -- even though the directions say alkaline batteries are fine!
Do yourself a favor and get Canon, Nikon or other higher quality brand to save yourself aggravation.

 | Canon PowerShot SD780IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Deep Red)
Last of the Enjoyable Canon Digital Elph Camera -- 2010-09-01 The Canon PowerShot SD 780IS is my latest and the fourth Digital Elph acquisition. This could very well be the last camera for this Canon branch (with 12+ megapixels)to come with a real-image optical zoom viewfinder. I hope I am wrong on this assumption.
Prove me wrong on the following three points if one could do quality photographic management without a camera viewfinder:
1) Any compact digital camera(including the new Canon brands) which allows the photographer to get a good view of the object in front through the LCD screen, with the sun on his back.
2) Any compact digital camera (including the new Canon brands) which allows the photographer to take rapid succession or panning shots viewing through the LCD screen inches away from the eyes.
3) Conserve battery with a LCD screen only digital camera.
It's no point in lamenting the whys and the stupidity of doing away with an optical zoom viewfinder on the Digital Elph series, or any similar cameras for that matter. Best Buy doesn't even carry this Digital Elph model. All PowerShot cameras or similar it carries have only LCD screens.
Compact digital cameras with viewfinders are a vanishing species. If you like a digital camera with a viewfinder, or have ever own a lower than a 10 megapixel Canon PowerShot Digital Elph, get the SD780IS camera. It's worth it.
Great Choice -- 2010-08-31 I've owned two cameras prior to this canon (a kodak & an olympus) and this is by far my favorite. Even though it wasn't the most important factor for me, the small size is a definite plus. I've used it for an entire day without having low battery although I do think charging nightly is a good idea if you use it quite a bit. The picture quality overall is great. Yes, it takes a blurry picture from time to time, but if you set the camera correctly (its really easy to do) your pictures will turn out great. I use this camera for facebook/internet use and for printing normal size photos & find it works very well! And an added bonus - its actually a pretty tough camera. The first week I had it, it was COMPLETELY submerged underwater for 5 minutes (turned off) and after about a week of drying out, it works perfectly. I can barely believe it & it makes me love it that much more. I highly recommend this camera!

 | Canon PowerShot S95 10 MP Digital Camera with 3.8x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch inch LCD
Great for a pocket camera -- 2010-09-03 If you want a camera to carry in your pocket this camera is the best. But, for a few more $ you can get the Pentax k-7. The k-7 photo quality and video quality are excellent. Pentax K-x 12.4MP Digital SLR with 2.7 inch LCD and 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL Lens (Red)
Panoramic stitching -- 2010-09-02 This is my first choice camera to purchase but I'm trying to figure out if it has panoramic stitching shots like the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX5, which I think would be great, as I take a lot of scenery shots.
Can anyone school me?
Thanks!

 | Canon PowerShot S90 10MP Digital Camera with 3.8x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3-inch LCD
Powershot S90 by Cannon -- 2010-09-02 This camera has served me well, as my backup camera. I take it to more hazardous events (weather, shock, etc.) A few people say that they don't like the build quality and that it is almost too small. It's not an issue for me b/c I have small hands to begin with. It is very light, but no lighter than other point-and-shoots that I've used, and for the quality of the pictures, well worth the money spent. It would be nice if the battery lasted a little longer though! I read tons of reviews on this camera before biting the bullet and buying one of my own. I was torn between this and the next model up in price. I am not a pro photographer and just wanted something I could fit easily into my purse when I didn't want to lug heavy equipment with me on day trips. Because the size was so important to me, I opted for this model. I am not disappointed at all - I like this camera and continue to be impressed at the beautiful the images coming SOOC.
The best P&S camera I've ever used...period -- 2010-09-02 I recently got this camera (yes i know, the S95 just came out) and I've loved using it.
The S90 is a point and shoot camera, but not necessarily compact. It's about an inch thick and an inch and a half including the control ring. The controls feel good with the exception of the shutter button. The control ring can easily get confused for the shutter button when you're not paying attention. It only has a 3.8X zoom, but the large f/2 aperture is worth it. I've taken several low light photos at isos of 80-400. Noise isnt much of a problem until iso 800. after 800, it starts getting noisy...fast. The priority modes are a nice addition to this camera as well as the custom, program, and manual modes. The auto mode will do a good job on its own, but the camera really shines when put in manual.
The picture quality is excellent. Zoomed in at 100% there is little chromatic abberation and only some purple fringing, but it wont detract from the photo too much. It has less chromatic abberation than average (most P&S cameras ive seen have it to some extent so don't get too uptight about it). The RAW capabilities are pretty nice, but there is a great amount of barrel distortion when shot in RAW mode. The camera does a really good job of correcting it when converted to JPEG though.
This is the low light king of the P&S jungle. Sony and Casio have CMOS sensors with a mode to take several pictures at different exposures at a high speed. Not needed with the s90. The day I got it I tried using it in a dark parking lot at night in front of a few shops. I was able to see everything in the picture with the f/2 lens at iso 80 and 1/5 shutter speed. It takes some time to play with the settings and figure out what works.
Blur from hand shake isnt that bad due to the IS on this camera.
It takes some time to get used to the plethora of controls and settings. This camera isn't for novice users. If you're looking for a great point and shoot and aren't technically inclined, then search for another camera. As i said before, this camera does a decent job in auto mode, but it really shines in manual. The auto mode sometimes selects settings that may undersaturate the pictures.
Colors are for the most part accurate, but greens tend to be somewhat bright and reds and blues are very strong. Yellows tend to shift toward to green but its not that bad.
The camera operates at an average speed, with some shutter lag and as long as you prefocus, it shouldn't be that bad.
Overall, this is a great point and shoot with great low light abilities. It produces better pictures than any other point and shoot I've seen and its large sensor only adds to the experience. With decent noise handling up to iso 800, which i havent seen on any other point and shoot, it will give you a sharp image in any light.

 | Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH20 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 8x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD (Red)
Great Camera For The Price -- 2010-08-16 I own an older Lumix and I love it, so when I wanted to buy cameras for my siblings this summer I bought two of these new ones and they were very happily received gifts! For the money this is an excellent camera - it has a super zoom which allows you to photograph things from far away, which will be great for my stepsister taking photos of her horses in the pasture, and it is absolutely tiny, which is great for my brother as he likes to stuff everything (ipod, books, you name it) into the pockets of his cargo pants. It takes wonderful photos and makes it really easy to grab a quick home movie on the fly. The controls are nicely balanced, if you just want to get a snapshot without thinking about it too hard it is easy to use in idiot mode, and if you want to have more input into what your picture looks like there are plenty of serious-photographer options for you to choose from, although there is no manual focus. And it comes in variety of fun colours - I chose a red one for my stepsister and a black one for my brother.
Unlike my older Lumix - a DMC TZ3 - this one does not come with a Leica lens, it has an 8x optical zoom rather than a 10x optical zoom, and it is manufactured in China rather than Japan. But then again it costs less than half the price I paid for my old DMC TZ3, and it is about half the size. If you want a Leica-lensed more serious Lumix you can still buy one, they make new models with the Leica lens, loads more options and a price to match - this one, the DMC ZS7 looks pretty awesome Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Black). But if you want to get a great camera for a very low price you will be very happy with this one, it is a lot of fun in a small package.
Lives up to the reviews -- 2010-08-12 We got this camera and took it to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando. My daughter took hundreds of photos in the castle, which was nothing but low light situations. She also took hundreds of the village in the evening. Again, low light. I can count on one hand the pictures that didn't work out, and those happened solely with attempts to photograph 3D holograms. Everything else came out perfectly.
I bought an extra battery to be safe and it wasn't necessary - one battery took us easily through a full day of picture taking.
The camera is idiot proof: put it on intelligent auto, point and shoot, and you will get gorgeous photos. At this price, this camera is outstanding!

 | Canon PowerShot SX210IS 14.1 MP Digital Camera with 14x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Black)
Canon power shot SX210IS -- 2010-09-03 Great camera, bought for an Alaska trip very pleased with all pictures taken inserted a 16G card shot over 600 pictures with out a problem. 14X wide angle was super. highly recommend this Canon camera
Short Changed -- 2010-09-02 I was suppose to receive a 4GB SDHC Memory Card free with the purchase of this camera. I never received it nor have I ever heard anything from Amazon regarding it. When purchasing an item worth this kind of money one would think that Amazon would live up to their end of the bargin. Will think twice before coming back to them.

 | Canon PowerShot SX20IS 12.1MP Digital Camera with 20x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch Articulating LCD
Great Second or third Camera for travel -- 2010-08-31 I must first say that except for a Fuji point and shoot, all my cameras are Canon so I may sound a bit like a Canon commercial but I really like this camera. I purchased this camera as an upgrade to my S5IS. I am planning a cruise and am always afraid to take my DSLR cameras and lenses with me for fear of loss or theft and because of weight restrictions on the plane. I used the S5IS on a trip to Bermuda and was thrilled with the results. I created a DVD slide presentation and even on a 50 in HDTV, the shots were fantastic. This camera produces even better pictures, 12 megapixels as apposed to 8 for the S5IS and a 20 times optical zoom as compared with 12 for S5IS. The SX20IS has better video, more features, and a much better zoom. I was amazed with the first shots I took and even when using the digital zoom, the noise was very tolerable and easily fixed with a good photo program. Using the digital zoom, I printed great 4 X 6 prints that were clear and sharp. I also have a Canon G10, a Canon T1i with an 18 -270 Tamaron lens, and a Canon XTI with a Sigma 18 - 200 lens. When I compared the quality of photos between the these cameras and the SX20IS the DSLR did win but not by that much. For the price, the SX20IS will be a great camera to take on a trip where space and weight are of a concern. I recommend this camera to anyone who wants an upper end quality point and shoot camera.
Bad Camera -- 2010-08-30 I bought this camera in November of 2009 and 8 months later, the thing was eating my batteries like crazy. I would place a new set of batteries in and the camera immediately tells me they are bad and needs to be changed when the batteries are brand new! Would not recommend buying this camera!

 | Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Black)
Problem w recorded image -- 2010-09-03 I received my DMC-ZS7 just about 2 weeks ago. I had not had much chance to use it, but in the small amount of time I've had to play with it I was quite excited about it. Loved the extra zoom feature and the picture quality appeared to be quite nice. Haven't actually printed any photos yet so not sure how the quality will translate to print. Today while taking pictures I noticed a thin blue line was being included in the top center portion of the images. After trying different settings, different memory cards, etc. I found this was occuring in all photos. An email response from Panasonic suggested I reset the camera, and if that didn't work to send for repair. The reset did not work. I don't know if this is a software or a hardware issue, but now I must pay to have it shipped for a replacement. The seller only accepts returns if within 7 days. Also they require all warranty cards to be returned, so if you order any item be sure to save those cards and read all the fine print. I do like the camera and hope the replacement will provide many years of trouble-free use.Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD (Red)
Good but not enough for me -- 2010-09-03 I wanted a view finder and a hot shoe. camera is terrific other than that.

 | Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ35 12.1MP Digital Camera with 18x POWER Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7 inch LCD
Absolute product love! -- 2010-09-04 This camera is completely a steal! The quality of photos it takes is only hindered by the level of creativity you have. I absolutely love this camera, in general, but I bought it specifically so I could take pictures of the stars and the moon - of which I was not disappointed. On the contrary, I was joyfully surprised. The camera caught even some of the subtle stars.
The color vibrancy continues to steal my breath! Or the fact that I have even had flowers touching the lens and the picture will still have clean lines is a rarity! All in all, this point and shoot will make any amature, such as myself, feel highly experienced and capable of delivering beautiful pictures.
Very Impressive Photos -- 2010-08-26 I wanted to downsize from a dSLR to a smaller camera because the bigger camera was just too heavy to lug around my neck all day especially since I had a zoom lens on it. I also wanted a small camera that had a viewfinder. Sometimes you just can't see that back screen well enough to take a good picture. Of course I wanted to have the option of manually setting camera speed, aperture etc. plus I wanted, perhaps, to take a short video of some amazing scene on one of my trips.
I bought the Panasonic FZ-35 and have had it now for about 6 months. It takes absolutely gorgeous photos...crisp images, accurate colors in all lighting situations. The camera's IntelligentAuto is often smarter than I am and takes a better balanced picture than I do. I now do very little editing with photo software. As I expected, the viewfinder comes in handy for some shots. The camera is light and easy to carry around all day even hanging around my neck. I have an impressive zoom lens.
I've gone through a slew of large and small cameras looking for one that produced sharp photos and that didn't require that I take extra lens with me. I finally found what I was looking for in this camera and would recommend its purchase to anyone. I'd put my photos up against those from a dSLR anytime.

 | Canon PowerShot G11 10MP Digital Camera with 5x Wide Angle Optical Stabilized Zoom and 2.8-inch articulating LCD
Awesome little camera! -- 2010-08-31 I have been lugging around my DSLR and all its lenses and accessories wherever I go and feel awkward sometimes but a friend recommended a Canon G series camera. I did a lot of research and decided to buy the G11. I have it for about 2 weeks now and i absolutely am in love with it! its portable, I love the swivel screen too. and i dont need to be changing lenses. Its perfect for me. I would recommend anyone to buy this.
Canon G11 or S90...... -- 2010-08-27 There are way many reviews about G11 and S90, and it's the most headache thing for me to select the correct one, which I would like to spend money on walk and shoot porpose instead of carrying my Canon 30D. After deep thinking and borrow G11 and S90 from friends to play couple days. Yes, I like S90, which is a perfect size compact camera. It have way more advantages and improvements. However, G11 fits more my personal requirements.
I finally choose G11.
Here are reasons:
1. Both G11 and S90 are based on Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor, so everyone feels both with the same performance. I have to say not true. You can check Canon 50D, which is also Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor, but people use Canon 50D not saying S90 the same as 50D. The reason is all about lens. S90 F2.0-4.9 is btter than G11 F2.8-4.5. This is my key concern for selecting S90 instead of G11, so I took some indoor pictures with both S90 and G11. After comparing those picture, I would say, S90 is awesome, but G11 is good enojugh because low light mode did help with Canon's DIGIC 4 Image Processor improvement.
2. S90 has bigger LCD, which is 3.0", but G11 LCD size is only 2.8". 3.0" LCD is bigger, but I want to take my picture on my self for fun sometimes, so G11 LCD is cool on it as my very very old PRO70 (Canon first semi-SLR in 1998). I would say that I am happy to have such adjustable LCD again.
3. G11 Quick Shoot Mode, which S90 not provided, is the key feature for me to select G11. It does help a lot to catch those pictures when my son is kicking soccer or doing other excersises. Even this mode is a battery drinker because it keep the camera nonstop focus on target, I have to prepare another backup battery.
4. Shutter Speed. G11 has Auto (1 - 1/4000 sec) and S90 only has Auto (1 - 1/1600 sec). It's another key for me to choose it because my kids won't stand there for letting me to take their cute pictures. They are moving around everywhere unstoppable.
5. Closest Focus, G11 is 1cm, and S90 is 5cm. I would say G11 better on it due to my job related to electronic design. Many components are way smaller than usual.
6. G11 has optical view finder. It's not a key concern, but I just like it since I used many digital and tranditional cameras with optical view finder most of time from 8 years old and already get use into it. It's just a personal reason that my eyes don't like digital view finder.
I would say G11 is a camera with most required functions as I expected. S90 is also a good camera. It really depends on your purpose and expecting of the camera. If it's just a street camera with few club or at home indoor low light picture without flash casually, S90 is good enough for it and way better than pervious Canon S, SD, or A products. If you have a very young unstoppable kid or lovely excersise child, G11 can provide better solutions for you.
