Canon Pixma MP610 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2180B002)Canon Pixma MP610 Photo All-In-One Inkjet Printer (2180B002)

Wonderful printer, my favorite -- 2008-12-30
I had it for a couple of years now. Used many printers, and this one is the best of the lot. I had Canon and other brand printers and there is no comparison, this one beats them all. it is all in one and has great quality photo printing and great regular printing. The ink is separate so i don't waste color ink or regular printing. refills are inexpensive too if you know where to shop. i buy mine (with chip) at atlanticinkjet and can't say enough good things about them. I would recommend it and will probably buy another one for family.

fast processing -- 2008-12-26
I have the canon mp610 and a kodak 5300. The canon is much faster in processing the information than the Kodak is and after printing the same picture on each of the machines the results were mixed. I liked the Kodak as i thought it did a better job on skin tones while my wife preferred the Canon as the blacks were darker. Go figure. Both did a good job but the Kodak is very much slower in processing the information and printing the picture once you hit the print key. I understand that Kodak has a new replacement for this machine and the problems have been eliminated. All in all, the ink costs are favorable and once the bugs are eliminated the pictures are as good as professional. It is still a gamble. Oh, forget customer service. You end up speaking someone named Walter in India and it is nearly impossible to understand them. I ended up telling them how to print a picture without a border. that is a frustrating experience

DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER -- 2009-01-03
As is the case with every other person here, it is virtually impossible to get this printer to work...period...if you want to set it up to work as a wireless printer, good luck...no can do. I've now spent over 3 hours on this with no luck.

The instruction guide is useless.

I will consult with a network specialist friend of mine regarding this but never have I had such problems with a printer. If he can't get it to work within a reasonable period of time, I'll gladly send it back and get something functional.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY...BUY SOMETHING ELSE...DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR!!

I wouldn't ordinarily trash a product, but this is the worst I've ever seen. Don't make the mistake I made...buy an HP, Epson, etc...Brother should be ashamed for even making this thing...virtually NOBODY can get it to work...for those who said they hooked it up successfully through a home network for wireless function, please print detailed instructions!

Thanks and Happy New Year...don't buy this printer!

Mac USB & Wireless setup a breeze -- 2009-01-01
Mac setup was unbelievably easy. Connected via USB to wired 10.4 machine in about 3 minutes. Connected via wireless to 10.5 machine in less than 10 minutes. Easiest printer setup ever. Print quality is beautiful.

So far the best printer I had -- 2009-01-04
I brought this printer from Frys electronics on a sale $89. I did had some glitches with setting up the printer ink cartridges and once I figured it out, then on wards it was very easy to setup the printer. I have tested some of the 4"X6" photos of my daughter's birthday party and it was very good. I never got any of this printer's picture qualities before from any of my previous printers. I previously owned an HP printer and it totally useless and was looking for some deals on printers and found this printer. After reading some reviews in Amazon I decided to buy it.

I configured this printer using wireless network configuration and it was very smooth. I was expecting some issues after reading some negative comments about setting up the wireless network configuration with this printer in Amzon. Anyways my systems are on a Windows Vista OS and if you have proper configuration details of your wireless router it is pretty easy to setup.

10 points for the picture print quality
8 points for setup and total time taken to configure is less than 45 mts.

Thank you

Very complicated setup -- 2009-01-01
I have never had a printer that was more complicated to set up. The 70 page "quick start" guide was confusing and unhelpful. Trying to use the Canon utility to set up wireless printing on a Mac was a nightmare. There are a number of positive reviews of the quality of the printing, etc - that is true, but brace yourself for a horrible setup experience and hope you never lose the manual if you ever want to change any of the settings down the road.

HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Printer/Fax/Scanner/Copier (Q8061A#ABA)HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One Printer/Fax/Scanner/Copier (Q8061A#ABA)

Good all-in-one for the money.  -- 2008-12-30
I bought this as a replacement for my old Photosmart P2350 printer, which was good, but didn't have a fax machine. The Office Jet 6310 does, and the price was right, so I got it.

This is a straightforward multifunction (4-in-1) office machine. What's good about a 4-in-1 is that it does 4 things in one! The 6310 has a fax machine with built in 33.6kbps modem, a color scanner, copier, and printer. The fax machine has an auto document feeder, which is nice for sending multiple pages. Up front is a panel for the various functions; scanning, faxing, and copying. There's an alphanumeric pad for faxing, and a backlit LCD dot-matrix display. You can hook this printer up to a home network. There are slots for memory cards also. There's an Ethernet cable port in back, so it's network compatible. I have mine hooked up to my home wireless network through a router, and it works fine.

HP says this will do 33 pages per minute black and white and 25 color. Obviously it's an exaggeration, because it depends on the print quality. A fast draft print will come close, but for anything else, forget it. I'd get good color prints in over a minute on the maximum DPI. It uses print cartridges quickly also. I burned through a color and a back and white in a couple months of light use. HP cartridges are expensive and rarely go on sale.

This does print great photos, although not as good as a dedicated photo printer like the PhotoSmart series. The Canon Pixima 4-in-1 series machines do the best job, but were a lot more expensive. Black and white, text comes out clean and sharp, but not as sharp as a laser machine. The scans come out good, but expect to wait for them. Same with copies. Scanning and copying are both painfully slow with the 6310. Other machines do much better, and the higher end HP 4-in-1's perform all these tasks quickly.

Overall, this is a good machine for light use or occasional use. It would be best for someone who needs to send an occasional fax, scan, or copy something. It does everything I ask it to, and does it good enough.

Pros:

Low price
HP quality
readily available ink cartridges
Quick printing
Good print quality
Network ready
Multi-card reader
Auto document feeder

Cons

Slowish print speeds
Painfully slow scanning and copying
Expensive ink cartridges
Photo printing could be better

The Bad Outweighs The Good -- 2008-12-28
I hate this printer with a fiery passion. I fantasize about running it over with my car - that's how much of a hassle it has been.

The Good (and the reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1):
1. Color copies are crisp and look good - especially with a higher quality paper.

The Bad:
1. The scanner makes me insane. It is so slow I could send my document more efficiently via pony express. It also randomly doesn't work some days - particularly after scanning multi-page documents.
2. HP customer 'support' is so bad it's like a comedy routine about outsourced customer support. If you need help, plan to devote a few hours on the phone to HP 'support', and plan to go through long checklists that are unrelated to your problem. The last 2 times I called with a question their solution was to unplug the unit and leave it unplugged for a few days and try again.
3. The fax is slow and sometimes unreliable.
4. Like others, I was annoyed that I needed to buy my own USB cable - and the first one I bought didn't work with this printer (though it works with other things) - I had to get another.
5. The set-up. I may not be a pro but I am hardly a tech novice - I have a home office and have used several different all-in-ones in the past. This is the first time that installing a printer caused me so much trouble (including buying multiple USB cables and calling HP 'support' twice).

Also, and I can't count this as a negative since it is stated, be aware that this unit does not copy wirelessly unless you have an Ethernet connection/card.

Bottom line: Hours upon hours of hassle and frustration make this unit not worth it at any price.

Canon SELPHY CP760 Compact Photo Printer (2565B001)Canon SELPHY CP760 Compact Photo Printer (2565B001)

Deep colors and durable prints -- 2008-12-30
It's hard to describe how much better the Selphy's images are than what you get from most ink-jet printers. Don't be put off by the rated 300-dpi resolution; dye-sublimation blends colors by layering them over each other, while ink-jets simulate colors using side-by-side dithered dots. So, ink-jets _need_ higher resolutions just to fool our eyes. The Selphy's output is best compared to commercial photo-finishers, but with instant gratification.

Only a couple of quibbles:

You can only use Canon's special paper-and-ink-roll packs, but that's due to dye-sub being a different development process. Price per print is pretty reasonable, especially if you get the 108-count triple pack, which you'll probably want to anyway.

The printer itself may be small, but the loading tray sticks out a good seven inches, and you'll need to be sure that another six inches stays clear on the back side. The printing process runs the paper back and forth through the unit, layering the primary colors and then a cover coat. This means the total footprint is larger than printer size would indicate, and with the loading tray inserted, it's kind of ungainly. Not a grab-and-go gizmo -- for that, you should consider its cousin, the ES3.

But man, you can't beat the image quality and print durability.

Please Don't Waste Your $ -- 2008-12-24
Yes, it prints quickly.
Yes, it even prints quality pictures!
Why am I so disappointed?
You can only use Canon paper! It says that it prints 4X6, but actually 4X6 paper does not fit in the printer! You have to use a slightly slimmer paper from Canon and then tear off the two ends when you get finished. This leaves ridges on the edges of your picture! I am so disappointed in the printer. Nothing on the box said that you would not be able to print actual 4X6 pictures!

A good product -- 2009-01-01
I purchased this product after comparing it with the HP officejet 6480. I chose this one because of networking problems and software problems associated with the HP. The networking setup was a breeze on two laptops - the instructions were really pretty good.
The printing is really fast.

My only complaint and what keeps me from giving this printer a five star rating is the deceptive "double-sided" printing capability. This is not a duplexer as I assumed it was. In order to print double sided you have to print on one side, flip the paper, reload it, and then hit resume on your computer. Even in a house with multiple computers where the printer is a few rooms away, this is impractical.

Otherwise, a really great home and small office printer.

Don't buy this product from Amazon.com -- 2008-12-30
I purchased the epson workforce 600. It was delivered this afternoon. I opened the box and it contains everything but the catridges and phone cord. I don't know how to speak to someone at amazon.com. What is their phone number? The machine looks used. Please don't order this product from amazon.com. They are not honest.

Epson PictureMate Dash PM260 Compact Photo Inkjet Printer (C11C694201)Epson PictureMate Dash PM260 Compact Photo Inkjet Printer (C11C694201)

Super fast, great looking prints. -- 2008-12-03
I purchased this printer to use in a photo booth that I'm building for my wedding in January. I did a lot of research to find the fastest but still good looking prints. The PM260 delivers! The first print can be in your hands in about a minute and additional prints will be done in about 45 seconds. The quality is astounding. I've used up the initial cartridge and paper in testing my photo booth software and every print looked great.

One thing that did surprise me was the size of the printer. It's not massive, just bigger than the picture makes it out to look. Still very portable and easy to put away. It's very portable and the included handle is pretty cool. You can even purchase a battery and do totally portable prints. One feature that I really appreciated was a little strap on the power supply cord that allows you to wrap up the whole thing and hold it together.

Like most printers if you want to connect it to your computer you'll need a USB cable.

I haven't used the memory card slots or fancy in-printer editing features so I can't speak to those features.

Great Product! -- 2008-11-29
This is one of the better things I have purchased for scrapebooking. It is easy to use, has great quality prints, and can be taken anywhere!

Software installation NIGHTMARE!!!! -- 2009-01-03
I'd love to comment on how this printer works, but I've spent four hours trying to get the software to load and it won't. The tech support guy (in his barely intelligible Indian accent) is telling me that it's a Windows problem, and not an HP problem (although I've had another HP product on the same machine for four years). I'm getting ready to cram it back in the box and take it back to OfficeDepot!!!!

HP C7280 -- 2009-01-06
Good unit when it works and easy to set up.
I purchased one for small business use 11/07 and the unit failed after limited use on 12/31/08 - 35 days after the expiration of the warranty.
HP offered to replace it at a reduced price but it was cheaper new on Amazon.
This is the first HP printer that I have had that wasn't worth the money.

The Worst Printer I have ever owned! -- 2008-12-28
I bought the 7280 after my old workhorse HP Photosmart 2410 just died one day. I had so much good work out of the 2410 I was determined to go with HP again. After 6 months of terrible service and many, many calls to HP I finally invoked my Max assurance warranty and got my money back.

The HP 7280 had the following problems

* Always pulled two sheets of paper with every printout
* Was EXTREMELY NOISY particularly during scanning
* Burned through ink like it was free
* Never showed me the ink level status, this feature was simply broken
* Had incredibly bloated software install
* The poorest scanner I have encountered in many years
* Held very little 8.5x11 paper, only about 50 sheets reliably
* Did I mention how LOUD it was?

About the only thing that it had going for it was that the Vivera ink could be found pretty cheaply in those photo packs that included the 150 sheets of photo paper. Anyway, I'm usually pretty easy on technology products but I felt I needed to share my dissatisfaction with this product with the world as it is indeed, the worst printer I've ever owned.

Buyer Beware!

Couldn't use because it shredded paper -- 2009-01-02
We only had this printer for a couple hours. All the software loaded but the printer ate 4 out of 5 pieces of paper, hopelessly mangling them inside the guts of the printer. We didn't want to deal with this problem so we're back to trying to find another one. Maybe this one was a lemon, but I can't recommend it.

Not the best, buyer beware...my opinion. -- 2008-12-28
Once it installed, it worked great. However, to my horror, my machine would barely boot once the software was installed. HP tech support was very good, but, despite every which way from Sunday to uninstall and install the software, delete the temp files, get the software out of the boot start up, etc, etc, the same thing: my computer did not boot up as nearly as fast as it always does. Now, I built my computer from scratch, it is a dual core machine with lots of RAM, and I know a little about this stuff, but I am not an expert. Yet I will say, that this product did not work for me and I am returning it tomorrow. So, you spend the money and take your chances. Now, if I missed something obvious, it is way beyond me, and just disregard this review. Thanks and good luck.
