 | Logitech Squeezebox Radio
Great Internet Radio -- 2010-03-08 Spent weeks looking over every internet radio that I could find online, and settled on this one.
Bought it because I love late-night radio, and live behind hills in SW Austin, TX, where Mexican stations frequently drown out even the local stations (which are operating at night power.)
I am a (new) AT&T Uverse customer, and setup of this product couldn't have been easier. Click click DONE.
Have enjoyed this receiver for 6 weeks, and almost every night I listen to my iPod going to sleep (with downloaded Old Time Radio shows.)
Extremely satisfied with Squeezebox. The only possible improvement I can imagine is an iPod base plugin (other than the existing audio-headphone plugin) that would recharge the iPod while listening.
Fascinating Electronics But Serious Problems -- 2010-03-06 I have owned the basic Grace WiFi 1000B radio for several years, and am satisfied with it basic capabilities. I am looking for a second Wi-Fi radio, and tested the Logitech Squeezebox Radio as a possible answer to my needs. Several reviewers believe that device is more sophisticated than the Grace, and has good sound along with state of the art electronics. I tested the Squeezebox (which I will call "SB" for this review) over a two week time period, with the following conclusions:
1. The search and other options for the SB are markedly superior to the Grace, are easy to access and work very reliably. The Grace performs these functions very competently, but lacks the panache of the SB.
2. The sound quality of the SB's internal speaker is very marginal, and plugging the unit into Logitech X-140 speakers only made those problems louder. The tends to be SB sound is tinny and distorted on many sites. I tested both units side-by-side in a high signal quality area. The internal Grace speakers produced much more pleasant, listenable sound. When I added the X-140 speakers to the Grace, the resulting sound was excellent for all types of music.
3. As a clock radio, there is no comparison. The SB wins hands down. The Grace's readout window is dull and nearly impossible to read comfortably. By contrast, the SB offers an incredible array of display and programming options, including infinite brightness settings, and its clock function is easily read from an appreciable distance.
4. The size of the SB is much smaller, and can fit handily in almost any setting. The Grace is not huge and fits nicely on my amble bedside table. If you like to turn the radio toward the bed for ease of clock readings and radio station selection, the Grace is not acceptable.
5. The SB is more expensive than newer Grace models (Amazon prices), does not come with a remote ($50 extra, including a proprietary chargeable battery pack). With the battery, the SB can be used as a portable. Newer models of the Grace include a remote, and the Allegro model, which is designed as a clock radio, permits the use of regular AA batteries, as well as rechargeables which it recharges when the unit is plugged in. Grace offers a free program for the Apple IPOD Touch and IPHONE that provides perhaps the most sophisticated remote currently available, with all manner of options and tricks.
6. I had major problems with the SB's ability to hold selected stations in my bedroom area, where the signal quality degrades to 40%. Again, I tested the units side by side, and the Grace got and held any station I selected without incident. The SB did a decent job of latching on to signals, but is sorely deficient in holding them. Several times, when SB lost a station I selected, it froze the radio, and I was forced to re-initialize it, a rather time consuming and annoying process.
In conclusion, I enjoyed the size and superior electronics of the SB. It is very innovative, and I would have loved to keep it. Its marginal sound qualities and other problems were too much. After all, for the purpose of such a device is uninterrupted listening with the fewest complications possible (I prefer classical music), and on that score, the SB is sadly deficient.

 | Myine Electronics IR001 WiFi Internet Radio Adaptor
Very solid, good value -- 2010-03-09 Did some very light research, bought this in end on whim since it was an Amazon Gold Box deal. Excellent value. Setup was very easy; just ensure you have your WiFi network password on hand. Trickiest part about it for me was, silly enough, getting the remote set up (pull the notched edge of battery casing *inwards* towards center of unit with fingers of one hand; with other hand, slide out). There's a faux battery in there for placeholder, it seems. I emailed customer service, late on a Friday night before I'd figured out the battery, and got back three follow-up emails in quick succession: over a weekend! This was in addition to a follow-up call. Excellent customer service so far. Got unit up and running within two minutes.
Only drawbacks so far (I *just* started playing): would love, as one reviewer noted, to have the song information posted up. But a means of inputting URLs for radio stations would be great, however cumbersome that might be with the solely available select-character-and-click-with-remote means of inputting data. But the menus, organized by geographical region, and genre, seemed comprehensive enough. I live in NYC and there's lots of WiFi noise, but this little unit found my favourite Canadian stations instantly.
Off and running. I'm very pleased!
(Note, would be great eventually to have a touch-screen menu, though I know that would drive up the price point.)
Kissing my satellite radio subscription good-bye! -- 2010-03-07 I love this item; I had it on my "wish list" as a targeted future purchase, and just had to jump on it when it was featured as a "Gold Box" item. Within a few minutes of receiving the Myine Internet Radio Adapter, I had it unboxed, coupled with my wireless internet, plugged in, connected to my home stereo and ready to go!
Setting this device up is a no-brainer; even a techno-novice can get the Myine working. Everything you need is right in the box: a 3 foot RCA cable, AC adapter, mini-remote and simple instructions (I went to Radio Shack to extend the length of the cables and purchased a 20 foot length, in addition to a coupler, so as to have freedom in placing the device, but it's not essential for you to do so.) Once you have achieved the physical set-up, you can do an auto search for a wi-fi connection (you will need your security key handy); I have Verizon Fios and hadn't any problem whatsoever. The remote is your sole source of controlling the device, so don't lose it or let your dog get a hold of it! I have my unit set up by my Hi-def TV and sit approximately 14 feet away; although you will need to get up closer to read the stations on the Myine's 2 inch screen, the remote will work just fine. (Once you establish your presets, you will familiarize yourself with the stations and reading the screen will be a non-entity.)
Between radio stations and podcasts ,there is a wealth of genres to choose from. Presetting your favorites is easy and you will have up to 40 of them at your fingertips merely by pressing a button. Station reception is adequate and digital quality of both music and podcasts is fantastic!
Audiophiles listen up; if you are tired of paying a monthly fee for your satellite radio subscription, invest your money in the purchase of the Myine...you won't be disappointed!

 | Sirius SLV2 Vehicle Install Kit for the Stiletto 2 Portable Radio
Excellent vehicle kit for the Sirius Stiletto II -- 2010-03-01 This product does just what I need. It's easy to install and use as well as being portable enough to take from one vehicle to another. I'm very pleased with this product.
SIRRIUS STILLETO 2 CAR KIT -- 2009-12-28 If you own a Stilleto 2 (or are planning on getting one) I recommend getting this car kit for it. Comes with the holder, antennae, auto power supply, and remote. The presets are setup so you can easily switch channels or you can use the remote. The unit also swivels so if your in a spot where your not getting good reception you can easily move it around! I highly recommend this unit! I bought it at Amazon.com for about $35. Best buy was charging over $50!

 | SIRIUS Sportster 5 Satellite Radio Receiver with Vehicle Kit
Sirius Sportster 5 -- 2010-02-06 Installation was a snap. I had an idea of how I wanted to mount the receiver when it arrived but I ended up doing it differently and was very pleased. The product has good flexibility for mounting. The product arrived sooner than I anticipated which was nice. I mounted the unit under the dash on a mount with my GPS and was pleased with the results. I'm using the FM transmitter since I don't have an easy way to hook up to my radio and the sound quality is very good. Of course if you have an audio input on your radio that is the best way but if you don't the FM transmitter works great. I found that I didn't need the FM extender antenna. I activated on the web and the entire process took less than 20 minutes, including activation of the radio. My girlfriend activated her subscription by phone and it took a couple of hours plus confessing directions from the representative on the phone. If you follow the directions on the web everything should work easily. Ok, now for the problems. I tried two different debit cards from two different banks and the web page would say 'Invalid credit card'. I decided to try a card that wasn't a debit card and it went through with no problem. Also, I had to sign up for a year's worth of charges and there is an activation fee plus taxes so expect it to cost about $50 dollars more for a year's subscription. I didn't mind paying for a year in advance because now it's done. The total for the Sirius Everything was $194.47 but they do offer cheaper subscriptions. The only other problem I had was the instruction on the face of the radio after activation. It said 'Updated, press any key. Well, pressing any key takes you back to the activation screen. The book said to push in the 'Rotary knob' after the 'Updated' message. I did this several minutes after pushing another button and the receiver went to normal mode instantly.
Portable receiver -- 2010-02-01 Sirius XM is a service that offers great programming with few ads. On car trips there is no fading involved and the selection of news, talk and music are the same as you receive at home so it is comfortable to use. This product is small, light, and can easily be attached to a dashboard using provided mounting kits, but in my case I used velcro strips for optimum placement. The product does not run hot and the display is easy to read and gives channel content information. Mine draws about 300 milliamps of current from the cigarette plug so it's not a power hog. While it broadcasts the Sirius channel content to the car's FM radio, it has the standard earphone jack to listen directly or plug into a sound system if one choses.
My only complaint is the antenna connector is somewhat fragile and doesn't make as good connection as I would like. Its not the problem of Sirius, it is the connector technology of such small parts. Instead of a plug in connector a screw on base connector would be more secure.

 | XM XVSAP1V1 SkyDock with Built-In XM Tuner for iPhone and iPod Touch (Black)
Great product -- 2010-03-09 After my myfi had mostly died, I had stopped listening to xm for the last few months. Then I got this for my birthday, and it has seriously wowed me. The fm transmitter is better than most (although, I do still have to change stations once during my daily 30 mile commute). It plays both the xm radio (through the xm app) as well as music/podcasts (through the ipod's music app). The interface is pretty elegant. I think my only requests would be for xm to put in a way to record the satellite broadcast (which the myfi had), however, this may be a restriction of apple rather than xm's. My second request would be for them to develop a home unit as well. I tried contacting xm customer service about these requests and totally got the run around, so that's a big part of why they lost a star.
Noise Distortion -- 2010-03-03 Works wonderful in its functionality.
Ipod touch and XM app are brilliant.
Setup was a breeze.
Get an extra antenna and you can move it between vehicles.
HOWEVER: there is a constant noise distortion.
I've tried 2 different units
Two different cars
I use AUX input, not FM transmission
Every time there is a constant buzzing/static THROUGH the XM unit.
It is not the satellite reception OR the Ipod
Example:
-I plug my ipod directly into AUX input, listen to an mp3 and it sounds crystal.
-I then plug the ipod into skydock and plug skydock into AUX and listen to the SAME mp3, there's like 30% background distortion.
UNITS need noise filter improvement.
SOUNDS kinda sux
FUNCTION is brilliant
If it matters, both cars were BMWs: 07 Z4, 09 3-series

 | Sirius SUPH1 Universal Dock and Play Home Kit
Great Item -- 2010-02-27 Great item, easy to use and allows me to use the radio not only in the truck but in the house, garage, ect... with out buying the boom box.
Thankful for the terrestrial signal availability -- 2010-02-25 I work on the 3rd floor on an office building and have a window that faces the very direction that the manual says that the antenna needs to face. The antenna gets a full terrestrial signal (which is great for me), but zero satellite reception. If you don't live in an area that has supplemental terrestrial signals and you have to have you antenna indoors, you may want to think twice.

 | SIRIUS SCC1 Connect Universal Tuner
Works perfect with my in dash DVD -- 2010-02-10 I bought a 7" in dash DVD receiver for my truck. Unfortunately, I had to use this Sirius Tuner rather than the stock one embedded behind the glove box of my Ford. It's unfortunate that I had to buy this, but it works perfect.
Sirius SCC1 Tuner is the way to go! -- 2009-09-24 After years of using a portable universal tuner through either the FM tuner or aux. jack on my stereo, I finally decided it was time to upgrade my stereo head unit so I could integrate all my "attachments". I've been using the Sirius SCC1 with my Alpine CDA-9886 for about 5 months now, and I've been extremely pleased with it. The Sirius SCC1 works GREAT with the head unit and causes no issues with the other peripherals attached to it (I've also got the bluetooth module (KCA 200BT) and iPod cable). The sound quality is excellent--far better than it was using the portable unit through the auxillary input. One of the features I appreciated most about my portable unit was the ability to mark favorite songs or bands and be notified when they're being broadcast on any channel. This unit maintains that ability, although I do miss the option of having the notification beep through the speakers; instead the notification is visual on the face of the head unit, so if you're not looking at the head unit, you can easily miss it. (I haven't read through all the instructions though, so this isn't to say that the beep option doesn't exist).
Don't forget that with this unit, you will need the Sirius adaptor that is specific to your head unit. This is the TUNER itself, NOT the adaptor. YOU MUST HAVE BOTH in order for it to work (mine is paired with the KCA-SC100). All in all I've found the SCC1 to be a great value. Installation was SUPER easy for me (I installed it myself in about 20 minutes), the sound quality is great, and the convenience and cleanness of keeping everything integrated through the head unit makes it a great product.

 | Belkin F5X004 Auto Antenna for XM
This is an excellent replacement antenna for the XM radio micro mobile antenna. As good as or better than original -- 2010-03-09 The original antenna had a worn out plug that went into the side of my XM radio. I was glad to see that I did not need to buy a whole kit just to get the micro antenna. This is a name brand Belkin and works just as good as the original. Actually, it appears to work better than my original micro antenna because my commute to and from work had a dead spot where the original antenna would not pick up the XM signal (even when it was new). Since I replaced the antenna with this Belkin micro antenna, no more dead spots. Great value too.
Just what I needed -- 2010-02-26 My husband can now move his xm radio from one work truck to another when there is going to be a lot of down time.

 | XM XDNX1V1 Onyx Dock-and-Play Radio with Car Kit (Black)
good unit -- 2010-02-19 The best part of this unit is that it broadcasts an FM signal.... so you don't need to get a new stereo or rip out your stereo to make it work. It seems to need to be within 20 feet of your radio or antenna to sound good.... so in a car that is no problem. I also like to park the car in the garage where the Onyx can broadcast to my garage stereo. I wish the FM signal was stronger so it would compete better against remote FM radio stations..... but the FM transmitter is adjustable so you can change the broadcast frequency..... and it can save different FM frequencies so you can just flip between them while driving. The reception with the car magnet antenna needs almost direct access to the sky. It does work in my house but needs to be near a window. I wonder if the home antenna is more powerful.
Because it doesn't have to be hardwired to your stereo, I move it easily between cars and my house. I bought an adapter that converts AC to DC..... so I didn't have to buy a home kit. There is no battery so it always has to be plugged in. There is also a cool signal analyzer that shows satellite and terestrial signal strength. You can adjust screen color, audio output signal, and brightness. If you have the audio miniplug in the back, the FM transmitter shuts off.
I wish it had more preset buttons (only 10 +1).
I've had no glitches or problems this unit yet.
Horrible radio even worse customer service! -- 2010-02-16 Have had XM service for over 3 years now. Recently had to get a new radio because I was told my old one may interfere with other radio signals. So, they talked me into getting the Onyx. I was very specific when I asked if it did what my other radio did, including play in my home portable unit. I was assured it did. Well, it absolutely does not. Nor does it have the same features as my old one. On my old one I could pause and rewind, this one I can't. And it does not fit either my old car kit or my home kit, rendering the home kit useless and I had to reinstall a new car kit to use it. In fact, with the Onyx I have had nothing but problems with it since getting it. It turns off when it feels like, goes into demo mode (and then you can't turn it off), the display reads either check antenna or check power supply, neither of which are at issue (have had it checked and installed profressionally). I called to get it replaced. Was told I would be put through warranty and they would handle it. Well, the call was dropped and I tried calling back (since no one bothered calling me) and this time I got someone who could not speak or even understand English very well so the call was never completed - again. To get to the end result, it is now over 3 weeks later, 5 phone calls (all done by me - they never call back!), 4 emails and a request for a supervisor and it is still not resolved! HORRENDOUS customer service, TERRIBLE CHEAP product and not worth the money or trouble.

 | Scosche FM-MOD02 FM Modulator for iPod, Satellite Radio or Portable Music Player
works well, dynamic range limited -- 2010-03-09 high frequencies limited when using the dock output or headphone output of an ipod. "s" and hi-hats can at times sound like drowned out like "th" or just white noise.
Sirius works terrific, no problems at all when hooked up to this.
Easy Install, Much better sound than the wireless options -- 2010-03-07 Super easy install for me, as I already have an older
after market Pioneer, so just had to loosen a couple wire nuts.
Some static on both frequencies, but overall pretty good when driving.
When you pause your iPod is when you can hear the noise.
However, I would attribute this to the normal FM reception.
It does seem to hurt the AM radio, even when off.
I don't listen a lot, but i do like to listen to news, sports,
and weather once in awhile. So why I took away 1 star.
Be sure NOT to turn you iPod up to loud, otherwise it will distort.
I limited the max volume, so that doesn't happen.
Without buying a new stereo, this is the best option for
my older car.
