Kingston Data Traveler 2 GB USB Drive (DTI/2GB)Kingston Data Traveler 2 GB USB Drive (DTI/2GB)

CAUTION BUYER BEWARE -- 2009-01-04
I tried this drive on several computers NONE of which recognized it. The Kingston website offers several solutions, which is reason enough NOT to buy it. It is such a simple device why couldn't it just plug and play like my other thumb drives. I wish someone would have warned me away from wasting my money. These DO NOT WORK by just plugging them in.

NOT ReadyBoost compatible -- 2009-01-04
I had read a few earlier reviews that said this flash drive is compatible with ReadyBoost. The reviews are usually accurate so I assumed they were right but that was a mistake. This flash drive is NOT compatible with ReadyBoost (I just confirmed with the Kingston website).

Also, the clip seems too flimsy for a keyring. In fact it seems too flimsy even for a strap (they really should have made it thicker and widened the opening).

Sandisk 8GB Memory Card is Just Right -- 2009-01-01
The Sandisk 8GB memory card is great for me. It is the right size to handle the storage I need, including video. I like the slide out USB plug which eliminates the need to keep up with a cover. The rapid pulsing of the bright activity light makes sure you are aware when it is being read or written to, therefore when not to disconnect it. The slow pulsing of the activity light keeps you aware that the card is present and plugged in. This minimizes the chances of damaging the USB from unintended bumps or strikes to the Sandisk card.

Just wow. -- 2009-01-01
I was browsing through Amazon.com one day looking for USB flash drives, and was astonished at what I saw. A major-brand 16GB flash drive for $25? I simply couldn't believe my eyes, especially considering the fact that I've seen the same size drives go for $80 or $90. I received it as a Christmas gift this year (2008,) and it's got to be the best storage device I've ever had. I have been able to transfer tons of videos, programs, and music with no problems at all, and it's really nice to not have to worry about running out of space with most things I need to transfer. I'm unsure about older versions of this drive, but mine has a small LED that indicates when the drive is being read from/written to, which is a must, in my book.

I have very few gripes about this drive. Sure, it's not as fast as many smaller flash drives out there, but the capacity and the price more than make up for its speed. I don't even mind the tab that's used for extending the USB connector, as some people are concerned about. It seems solid and is designed with a low profile to minimize the possibility of accidentally opening the drive. I have a few SanDisk Cruzers that I wish were designed this way.

All in all, I recommend this flash drive to anyone who has the need for large mobile storage at a better-than-reasonable price. I'll probably buy a couple more of these sometime this year, as a matter of fact. The price and functionality cannot be beaten!

Great For Quick Backups or On The Go File Storage -- 2008-12-28
I own numerous USB Flash Drives, and although most of them still work okay, I find myself buying a new one every year or so since they keep getting bigger and cheaper. This Kingston 16GB model is a great value, and I like the retractable feature as opposed to worrying about using a cap. The device works perfectly right out of the box, and you can start using it immediately. The amount of data storage is great considering the amount of photos, videos, and music people have these days. I use this one to not only keep a portable copy of my music, but also to keep a few applications and documents I may need on other computers.

Bottom Line: Great device that offers lots of storage, it's easy to use, works right out of the box, and is a great value for the money.

For the One on the Move -- 2009-01-03
This drive worked great when I had it. I decided not to install the software that accompanied the drive and it worked great. There was no need to install the software and complicate things.

The retractable connection worked like a charm, though I never tried it on a computer with Windows Vista. The only downfall I noticed is the black color, which made the drive easy to lose sight of and that I did.

Future flash drives will become cheaper and cheaper, and the products will soon have more memory. I am going to wait a little while before I replace my lost flash drive and probably get a bigger/better one for less.

A Good Choice -- 2008-12-30
This is an excellent choice for data storage. Very easy to use and worked exactly as it was advertised.

annoying -- 2009-01-04
This has that annoying U3 software; to remove it I had to read forums then download a remover, taking me like a half hour total.
Also, mine was not 16 GB rather it was 14.74.
And the light is so big and bright, and it pulses. If you have a laptop like me you will definitely have to paint over it to keep yourself from going crazy.
On the upside this only took about 4 days to arrive and was not too expensive, so I give it a 3.

Software installation and file format -- 2009-01-02
Need to explain that file format must be NTFS if you are going to put large files on the flash drive.

Better explanation of software installation at first use needed.

Love this Little Guy! -- 2009-01-04
Works perfectly, but as a word of advice, I would remove the U3 software that comes with the device. It's annoying on load up, and only marginally useful.

You have to goto U3's website to download the removal software, which is a bit of the pain, but well worth to fully use this solid device.

Storing Your Life Away -- 2008-12-31
These days, when it comes down to computers, everybody is looking for a simple and easy way to store all your files on one format. While we've stored them onto floppy disks and CD-ROM disks, there are few ways that we can bring them on the go that can be as simple. This Sandisk Flash Drive handles very well, by allowing you to bring your biggest files that are more easily secured here, inc;luding music and media downloads from MP3 music files, to work projects that take up much more space that youn use for Excel and Movies and videos from Itunes. It handles the job very well, and is sturdy to tag along, at an affordable price. While there have been others that I've tried, SanDisk does the job very well, and I absolutely recommend this for your home computer or your laptop a whole lot.

Awesome -- 2008-12-28
We've had this little drive for about 2 years now and it has withstood all kinds of abuse. It works just fine going between my macintosh laptop and my husband's desktop windows. Transfer rates are pretty quick, too. It's even been accidentally sent through the washing machine and came out just fine. For the price and size, I'd say it's worth it.

WOW! -- 2008-12-24
This little USB drive is pretty typical, but it comes in handy. The reason I am so excited about it is I just sent it through the wash, complete cycle, then through the dryer, because I left it in my pants pocket. I remembered maybe 4 or 5 hours after the laundry was done, and I immediately groaned and found it right where I had left it, right in the pocket. I decided to try it to see how bad the damage was, and plugged it into my computer. I waited and then, all of a sudden, the little light lit up and I checked the drive. I did not lose any data! It still had full capacity! It was completely functioning! I tested the data transfer, and it still works. It was as if I had left it sitting on the desk rather than subjecting it to the terrors of the laundry. I was sufficiently amazed.

Kingston 32GB Flash Drive -- 2009-01-05
Happy with the product, (Kingston 32Gb Flash Drive) lots of room to store data. Fast and reliable. Once inserted to the reader, in less than 3 seconds it's in the desk top and ready to go. Most of my data are now stored in this small device. Carry anywhere and use in any pc/laptop.

Pretty great memory -- 2009-01-03
Can't complain. Able to read and save all my documents. The only drawback is the cap, I've misplaced it a few times already. ONe of the things I like about Sandisc that it has the retractable option, but Sandisc doesn't have a memory usb of 32GB.
