TWICE AS BIG AND THE COLOR IS GREAT -- 2010-09-06 I purchased this TV because I made a promise to myself if I complete a particular goal in my life this will be my reward! I am so glad I completed the goal! I bought the TV for my bedroom. I originally had a 19" CRT style TV mounted up on a shelf in the corner of my room. It worked good there since 1994.
I finally got the TV mounted up on the wall. It would not fit on the shelf where the original TV was mounted. The color on this set just "jumps" out at you. And I have to tell you I am running this TV on rabbit ear style antenna. There was no need for the converter box (that I had with the other TV). plugged it right in and the TV searched for all of the available stations. I picked the ones I wanted and omitted the ones I did not want to view.
You also have to understand the the streaming capabilities. Every signal that comes into your home comes in at 480p. So unless you are doing a lot of gaming on your TV you do not need anything higher than a 720p. It's the way the different manufactures are ripping you off by selling capabilities that you will never need.
The cost was a good thing too. I payed $349.00 (out the door price) and that was delivered to my front door. A week later I saw the same TV at the Target Store for the sale price of $369.00 plus tax. I can't complain it's TWICE AS BIG AND THE COLOR IS GREAT!
On/Off malfunction -- 2010-07-25 This product performs in about the 7 out of 10 range. Occasionally the screen will flicker between screens, i.e. changing channels, going from the menu to a channel, switching from on demand back to real time tv etc. It is also very slow to turn on and will sometimes not turn on at all. It will randomly not respond to the universal remote, the remote that came with the tv, nor the power button on the tv! In these cases I have had to unplug the tv, wait for a few seconds, and then try again. I don't know why this would work, but so far that has been the solution. I purchased a refurbished tv, so this may be the cause of its problems and not the brand.

 | Samsung LN22C350 22-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black)
Samsung LN22c350 -- 2010-08-18 Purchased to replace an analog TV that was installed high on a wall in a bedroom to view from the bed. When viewed close to the TV, the colors are darkened and distorted. This could be overcome by tilting the TV more downward but Samsung instructions limit the tilt to 15 degrees. So TV can only be enjoyed with your head far from the TV (or almost perpendicular to the screen). Otherwise buy was a good one.
First HDTV -- 2010-07-19 This is my first HDTV so I really can't compare it to other TV's. I just purchased this product about two weeks ago and I love it. I did lots of research for the size and if I wanted to go for a 120HZ instead of 60 HZ refresh rate. All the 120HZ were at a bigger size and I had a budget. I went with this one.
Now I mostly use this HDTV for video gaming. I have an Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. The Xbox 360 came with a HD Component plug but the PS3 didn't so I purchased a HDMI plug thinking it was a HD Component plug. Oh well. It worked fine with the tv. The TV has one HD component plug, a couple of USB ports, and one HDMI. My lack of research was in this area as I didn't think I needed more than one HDMI port. The HD cable box I had to get used an HDMI port therefore I would have to unplug/replug the PS3's HDMI whenever I want to play. Not too much of a hassle! lol.
So out the box, I had a little trouble screwing the stand into the bottom of the HDTV. Perhaps it was my screwdriver, but it still took me more than an hour to screw the darn thing into it and it's not even that tight cause it wiggles around a little bit. They should have made the holes a little bigger I think.
Setting up the HDTV to work with the many components was as smooth as butter. At the time I didn't have my cable box and only had my gaming systems so the option for the Air and Cable channels didn't work for me. To switch between components, all you do is press the source button on the remote and go to TV, Component, HDMI, and Media (for USB). My cable box was on HDMI and my Xbox 360 was on Component.
The graphics look amazing. Again this is my first HDTV so I can't compare to others. I found that I could change the view size to that of widescreen or fullscreen (4:3 or 16:9 ratios). There were more options than that which is great! Also, there were cable channels in HD so that was even better! Game Mode isn't really a big deal. It comes on automatically when I play my games. It makes the screen a little darker at least that's all I can notice. And I turn it off when watching cable.
I guess the only thing I can point out about the graphics is that when watching a movie in standard IT REALLY SHOWS its choppyness in the background especially with older movies. Not sure if there's an option to fix this. I could probably mess around with it.
The sound of the HDTV is decent, and I guess because of the size and where you use the TV. I have a small room so it's prefect but if you're using it in let's say a master bedroom and you are playing a big action movie or so, you have to turn it up more than 70/100 to hear it well. There might be an adjust in the menu also for this, haven't played around with it much lol.
As far as using it for pictures and music from a media player, I haven't used the HDTV for that yet. Once I do I'll edit this review. In the meantime, I think this HDTV is awesome for being my first one!
Thanks for reading *(^^)*

 | Samsung PN58C7000 58-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV (Black)
Outstanding TV -- 2010-09-03 Forget the long drown out reviews - Bottom line this is one outstanding TV. I have read a lot of reviews and worried about all the negatives some pointed out.
For 99.9 percent of you - you can rest assured they are nit picks! This TV has a wonderful picture in both 2D and 3D. You can adjust the picture in a thousand ( exaggerated but not by much) ways so you can have just the way you like it. In answer to some - no buzz - no Blurr - sound is as good an any TV in general but for most you use a home theater amp anyway so not a consideration.
The 3D glasses are the lightest and most confortable of the major TVs now out in 3D. The 3D is awesome and DirecTV now carries 3 channnels in 3D so content is comming.
Samsung PN58c7000 -- 2010-08-24 Received the Samsung PN58C7000 via Pilot shipping through Amazon. First, Amazon's follow-up was excellent, providing tracking and Pro numbers to follow the shipments. Because it was a bundled deal, the TV came separately from the dvd player and stater kit. The dvd player and starter kit arrived about two (2) days before the TV via UPS. Pilot scheduled a delivery and the two (2) delivery men arrived on time, carried the TV upstairs, removed it from the box (and disposed of it as well), put it on the TV stand, and tested it to insure that it was in perfect working order with no dead pixels.
I got the calibration settings online from the CNET website. After a few minutes putting in all of the numbers through all of the different screens, I was ready to watch TV. (Also, turning off the motion judder is a must do, whether via update or toggling on and off game mode). WOW! What a picture! The colors are dead on. Skin tone is perfect and all of the colors are right on the mark. Played the 3d movie Monsters vs Aliens and it was as if it was coming out of the screen. Too bad that there isn't much content at present. The 2d to 3d conversion does provide some depth, but not as dramatic as a 3d movie. Since the dvd payer is wifi, I set it up for Blockbuster and VUDU. Although I haven't streamed any movies yet, that aspect seems to work well. First thing it did was automatically update the dvd payer to have the latest software. So far, watched about 25 hours on the TV and have not heard any buzzing whatsoever. Near the end of Monsters vs Aliens, I did hear the fan for the TV, but it only lasted for a few minutes and I have not heard it since.
Great buy through Amazon. Printed the price, went to HH Greg and asked if they could match the deal. They told me that at that price, it was below their cost. Salesman said that if he was in the market, he would buy it immediately. I went home and did. I would highly recommend Amazon service, follow-up and follow through.

Great Picture ..but the Mount is Scary Flimsy -- 2010-09-04 Had this Puppy out of the box, base mounted and channels programmed in 22min. 38sec.! Beautiful Picture, just like my Samsung 50" Plasma purchased last year.
Much-Much better picture than the piece of carp Panasonic Viera, also bought last year.
My only concern is the base, the TV rocks back and forth on the central pivot point when you walk past it (our floor gives a little).
And....the Damn Base does not Swivel! That really bummed me out, especially for a larger unit such as this one!
I would have given it a four-star rating, but the picture is sooooo good!
This was ripped off, the order show it comes with a free wall-mount unit, but the shipment does not included it. -- 2010-08-18 This was ripped off, the order show it comes with a free wall-mount unit, but the shipment does not included it.

 | LG 55LD520 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV
Great TV for the price -- 2010-09-07 Just purchased this TV from Amazon (just over $1,400) with free shipping and NO TAX. Best Buy had it for the same price, but I liked the fact that I was able to save $70 in tax, and pay for this TV over a 2 year (24 interet free financing) period if I wanted. Just set it up tonight, and am watching the Boise St. versus Va Tech game. TV looks great combined with an HD signal. I have FIOS, and the picture quality is awesome. I didn't find a whole lot of reviews on this TV, so I wanted to add to the short list. This isn't a top of the line TV, nor is it a bottom of the market TV. I bought the Sanus tilting wall mount that holds up to 56 inch TV's, and it holds with no problems. I just saw that the 240 Hz model is only $150 more now, but hey, that kind of stuff happens all the time with electronics. I am very happy with my purchase so far.
55" LG TV -- 2010-09-01 LG 55LD520 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV
I am extremely satisfied with TV. Not one complaint, everything as described. Superb picture quality, great sound quality. Perfect size for our 24' x 24' family room.

 | LG INFINIA 55LE8500 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz Full LED Slim LCD HDTV
LG Jaw Dropper -- 2010-08-22 Well I finally did it after probably 5 years of humming and hoing ... I went out and got the 55 inch bad boy LCD. I thought I was set on the 55" LGLH90 (going out of production) - but the spec on the 8500 was so much better and it has full array LED backlighting and also serious wireless and online capabilities - that I had to spend the extra for the newer model. Another bonus is that in my opinion the 8500 is a better looking TV - the flat one piece glass front with only a thin black border is stunning and easy to keep clean as no dust traps. TV was easy enough to assemble to stand but you do need 2 people to handle a 55" safely. Once assembled and powered up the TV setup was easy and eveything worked perfectly out of the box. I was a bit worried about the reflectivity of the glass front screen as the TV is in my family room which is very bright with 9 windows - but I set the TV high in the room above the fireplace and this really hasn't been a problem day or night. Because of the amazing colors and contrast it is like being AT the ballgame. The black is very deep and the colors vibrant. Our room is 28 ft across so we sit anywhere between 12 and 20 ft from the screen. Sound is pretty good from the built in speakers - I will be processing through audio equipment soon for surround sound. Also did not get / go wireless yet but intend to do this - right now everything is hard wired. The picture is mesmerizing in it's quality - I have fios HD and it really is another world - there could be no going back from here.
So far so good then - I am delighted with this TV. True proof of the pudding will be in reliable operation over many years as we keep things a long time. We personally did not care about 3D although we know it's the latest thing. This picture is so real it looks almost 3D much of the time. Watching old movies (HD pay per view) on this TV makes them new like we didn't see them before. Sports are amazing - huge baseball fans but now also looking forward to football as the pre-season games prove that this TV displays fast pace sports action no problem. I thoroughly recommend this TV.
LG INFINIA -- 2010-08-09 I did as much research as I could on line, I went to several stores
but being a new issue ,I was not able to view the Infinia. I read a lot of the comments on this TV plus techncal reports on LG TV's.
I love everyhting about this TV. From the visual design to picture
quality. The one negative comment I was concerned about was the internal speakers. I actually don't think they are that bad considering the TV is only 1 1/2" thick. I only turn on the surround
sound for movies etc. I highly recommend this TV.

 | VIZIO SV472XVT 47-Inch Class XVT Series TRULED 240Hz sps LED LCD VIZIO Internet Apps HDTV
White Dots on the top of the screen during an ad -- 2010-08-29 I really wanted to like this TV. It has a great price (Sam's Club) for all that you get. Where I have the problem is that during some of the ads, where the ad takes up only a portion of the screen and the top/bottom of the ad is bordered by about 3-4 inches of black, there are white pixels turning on/off - some on all of the time. This only occurs during these ads - all of the other ads and video (DVDs,...) appear to be very good. So why should I care about problems with an ad. Well, this makes me concerned that Vizio has not gotten all of the details down. Along this line, literally, I have seen where a white line drawn across a screen has some red remnants around it. Once again, it makes me concerned with details. Discussed with Sam's Club technician (very friendly/knowledgeable), but to no avail. As I said, I really wanted to like the TV but it still needs some fine tuning. If you can get by some of these details, the TV is very nice.
Better to have an internet than not half? -- 2010-08-24 I like this TV but not how it is being marketed.
Since the vizio commercials contain quite-apparent youtube clips in them, it is EXTREMELY disappointing to find out that NO youtube app is even possible on the brand new VIZIO I just purchased. what did they mean by showing youtube clips in their commercials, then? wishful thinking?
Also, a web enabled tv that is not suitable for web browsing is about as useful as a hose that is not suitable enough to allow drinking. you can wet your garden but you can't quench your thirst!
I'm extremely satisfied with the quality of the pictures, but not of the incomplete internet features: Weather radar app and Netflix feature are golden. Flickr and Pandora are useful. However, Facebook app is sluggish and limited. Don't expect to see the trademark layout, content and features of facebook that you could imagine if you hear a TV with facebook on it. It's more like how people can accessing facebook from an old, slow, non-apple, camera phone. Overall, 3.5 out of 5 stars and not a bad product for the price.
Wireless connectivity apparently only works with routers, NOT other devices (widi, ad hoc, etc). Couldn't get bluetooth devices to connect either, after several attempts. Remote control is ok, QWERTY-based, but typing on the buttons can be awkward, since they mimic a basic TV remote, not as convenient as hammering away on a phone or remote wireless key pad. The keystrokes are recorded with such delay that you will not approach any WPM records.

 | Panasonic TC-P42C2 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV
Excellent value -- 2010-08-31 My criteria for buying a TV was to stay under $600 and a screen size of 42 inches. LED-LCD TV's are priced out of that range right now, so that left LCD's and plasma's. After looking at both technologies, I opted to go with plasma.
LCD contrast ratio 150,000:1 vs. plasma 1 or 2 million to 1.
LCD 60Hz to 120Hz refresh vs. 600Hz plasma
LCD off angle viewing drop off vs. 180 degree viewing for plasma
I have a Vizio 50 inch plasma that I purchased in 2006 that I have had zero problems with. (I paid $2700 YIKES)
So given the fact that plasma technology has been around, and the other factors I listed above, I went with
Panasonic plasma. At about 5 feet distance, I could not tell the difference between the 1080p or the 720p sets. The 720p set was about $150 cheaper, so I bought it and have been totally pleased so far. I am pretty picky about the
picture and after some adjusting, the picture looks great! Plus, with the money I saved, I can buy a blu ray player
that can stream web based content. The G25 model offers that capability, but then I would be close to $1000, out of my price range.
720P TC P42 C2 -- 2010-08-29 This is my 4th Plasma in the family bought for my mom. My first one cost over $2500; this one was under $500.00. What an incredible value. I hooked it up to my TV antenna, and the HD pictures have been great. This TV rivals my $2500 TV bought a few years back. I also bought the Samsung 42" Plasma for my daughter for around the same price. I want to say that for the money, if you are trying to decide either way, I would let the bottom dollar be your draw your conclusion for they are both nice performers. Be careful while viewing them in stores. I feel the settings can be changed on the TV which can make you think one has a superior picture. Do yourself a favor and look at the same TV in 2 or more stores, and see if the picture don't look different. It might be my imagination, but I felt one store I visited purposely made the picture look bad so you would buy a more expensive TV, and used this as a leader. Don't be fooled. This inexpensive Panasonic looks fabulous in my mom's house.
