I AM LOVE OF MY NEW LAPTOP! -- 2010-09-01
I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH MY NEW LAPTOP HP. The only negative comment IS THAT THE MOUSE PAD IS A LITTLE HARD, BUT I HOPE THAT DECREASE WITH FREQUENT USE.

Good Computer for the Money -- 2010-08-24

The mousepad didn't work on the first laptop I received, then Amazon shipped me the 2nd one (rather quickly I might add). No problems, so far. It's alittle big and it takes a good while to start up. I think the computer would function alot better if HP removed all of their software crap, but what are you going to do. Descent computer.

Terrible Screen -- 2010-08-21
Returned in a day. Cheap screen - glossy like a mirror and terrible viewing angles (about 5 degrees in the portrait mode!), wobbly on the lap. HP designers need to be ashamed of themselves for letting the product out before fixing sch glaring issues.

Best Tablet Value On the Market -- 2010-08-10
I've been using this tablet for about a month now, as my primary laptop. It replaced the previous model, the TX2, which I used for about 18 months. While the TX2 was very cool, it was also painfully slow, had a grainy screen, and terrible touch screen recognition. All of these issues have been fixed with the TM2.

The laptop is powered by the new Intel Core i3 processor, which is very fast. Once you've uninstalled the bloatware that comes on all HP machines, this is easily one of the faster sub $1,000 laptops available. Photoshop CS5 runs just fine. The multi-touch and pen inputs are very accurate, and the keyboard is quite comfortable. The screen is much improved over the previous model, and the picture is very clear and bright. The viewing angles are sub-par though, and the screen is super glossy.

Taking notes in Microsoft OneNote on this tablet is a wonderful experience. The included stylus also includes an eraser, which is a big help. Navigation with a finger and the virtual keyboard is also very good. I probably spend about half my time in tablet mode, without needing the keyboard and touch pad.

All said, this is probably the best consumer tablet PC on the market.

PROS:
-Tablet is quite fast. Multitasking is great with 4GB of RAM.
-Stays very cool, even with so much packed into such a small area.
-The tablet is absolutely gorgeous.
-Great Battery Life. 5-6 hours easily.

CONS:
-Incredibly Glossy Screen
-Sub-par viewing angles
-Too much pre-installed bloatware (although this problem plagues most consumer PCs)

Best value - Laptop -- 2010-08-22
First of all, I've used Dell, Lenovo and Sony Laptops. None of them compare to HP Laptops.

The HP Pavilion dv6-3050us 15.6-Inch Laptop is a great laptop, at a great price. Here's why:

- The AMD Phenom II N930 makes it one of the fastest under $1000 in the market. This is a great processor, even for gamers.
- It's has a clear bright screen with optimal resolution
- This laptop is slim and lightweight and has a great design
- Stays quiet and has a nice keyboard layout, with discrete light indicators (more business-style wise).
- It has a finger-print reader for a quicker access and the webcam and microphone are incorporated, for a better multimedia experience.

Some minor cons:

- It takes a while to get used and to configure the mouse. It has multiple touch options for browsing, zooming, scrolling, etc.
- The Keyboard has quick access keys on the left and it takes a while to accustom itself to those keys. I tend to press them by mistake, instead of the Ctrl, Shift and Caps Lock keys).
- It sometimes gets a little to hot (on the upper left side of the keyboard).

Great first laptop -- 2010-08-01
Came very quickly. Kudos to Amazon for shipping and packaging. Love this computer. It has in my opinion, the best array of features for a sub $1000 computer. I thought initially that a 15.6 inch screen might be a tad bit to big but it is perfect. Not too big and not too small either.I still feel like I have to be careful in handling this computer. Maybe because its my first, but it seems to be well built. I like the brushed aluminum finish versus the glossy finishes many laptops have had up till now. great thinking from HP. The combo Ati 4250 and 5650 video cards are awesome too. Now granted, it won't run the absolutely newest spankin brand new titles coming out, but if you are a light to moderate gamer who has mostly older titles (2-4 years old) or just needs a system with good graphics this system fits the bill. Flight Simulator X has issues when flying in new york. Not sure if that's a processor, video card or actaul game issue but then again, that game is hard to run on any system. Did run Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 on this dv6 and it handles it like a dream. The 1 GB of DDR3 ram on the Ati Mobility Radeon HD5650 is good, but the best in line for gamers is GDDR5. But then again, I didn't buy this computer for gaming alone. I look forward to doing more with it as I've only had it for a couple of days, but so far it is excellent. It runs videos, even HD Videos (720P) very smoothly. A must buy...especially for those going to school.

HP Pavilion DM3-1040US 13.3-Inch Silver Laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium)HP Pavilion DM3-1040US 13.3-Inch Silver Laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium)

Sharp, Light, Slim notebook but a bit underpowered -- 2010-04-23
So, a couple of months ago I picked up this laptop and figured I'd write down my impressions. For the most part, I'm very happy with my purchase. It's a slim, light weight laptop with a flashy aluminum case and the performance to do most all of my every day tasks (and maybe just a little bit more)

I could probably fill a thesis on the device, but instead I'll just break it down simple so you can make the call on whether it's right for you. Keep in mind that since I've not owned this for a long period of time, I cannot vouch for it's long-term use.

PROS:
- Phenomenal look and size. It's your typical 13'3 laptop in terms of dimensions, but the aluminum casing, the black keys, sharp screen and good choice in layout of buttons, USB ports, etc...make this one of the best looking slim laptops on the market and a steal considering the price you'll pay for others in the same size and weight category.
- Very light, but sturdy; If weight is a big factor in your purchase, you'll like this laptop.
- Decent hardware specs for a travel & work. You're looking at an AMD 1.6GHz dual core, with 3GB of RAM, just under 300GB of useable disk storage space (265GB, if you subtract OS + the default software installed) and an ATI HD 3200 video card. The video card doesn't have any discrete memory, so it's not well suited for most modern gaming, but still a step up Intel GMA series you find on most $500-range notebooks.
- Good feel on the keyboard and comfortable to type on for long periods. The look takes cues from the Mac Book, though it does so convincingly.
- Monitor is sharp, bright and clear.
- Laptop runs nice and quiet during daily use.
- Battery life is decent. Count on roughly 4 hours, though you're mileage may vary depending on usage.

CONS:
- No CD/DVD drive. Though you can basically get by without one these days, if you you're one to watch DVDs on your computer and don't care to plunk down another $50 on an external USB drive, then keep looking. This fact is a bit amusing though, as you'll find that the lack of a drive still didn't prevent HP from shipping the laptop with a full suite of DVD/CD playback & burning/ripping software O_o
- The laptop compromises horsepower for top-of-the-line looks, style and size, so don't bother with this if you need a modern gaming machine or something capable of serious number crunching. The AMD/ATI chipset will play games 3+ years back just fine, but anything newer than that and you may end up rethinking your purchase.
- The mouse pad has a silvery/polished finish leaves smudges, can be non responsive when you have sweaty hands, and has a gesture interface that is just annoying (I disabled it after about a day) - Pads on a select few laptops are good enough to make you forget about your mouse, but this won't be one of them.
- For what I would presume were size reasons, the media keys (volume, brightness, etc...) are the same as the F1-F12 keys. Perfectly fine at first glance, till you realize that the media key is the default, and the FN key is required to access F1-F12. Somewhat frustrating when you hit just F5 on a web page to refresh and it locks your computer instead.
- Normal bloatware - Expect to spend the first hour or two uninstalling all the crap that HP puts on it.
- They claim 6 hours of battery life on the tech specs & packaging/labeling, but that it's a bit disingenuous. Like I said above, 4 hours is really what you can expect to get with a normal work use.

Anyway...in spite of the criticisms, I've very happy with my purchase. Nothing I described deterred me from making the decision that this was the right computer for me. I scored mines for $550 + Tax after comparing for a week and playing around with this one for the better part of an hour at the store.

If you like small laptops with respectable specs at a very reasonable price, then do consider it.

Boa relação custo benefício -- 2010-04-06
É um note muito bom, com boa relação custo x benefício!
Prós: Leve, bonito, rápido para um Dual, tela muito boa.
Contras: não tem DVD (acredite!), o touch pad não é dos melhores.

HP Mini 5102 Mini Executive Companion PCHP Mini 5102 Mini Executive Companion PC

Perfect Netbook -- 2010-07-11
For what it is, the HP 5102 is a fantastic travel friendly computer. It does not stream video well, its not going to be fast with any complex applications, but it has a fantastic keyboard, netbook or otherwise, best in class build quality (metal composite NOT plastic) a nice bright screen, and good speakers. Great for web browsing and typing/word processing. It has USB connectivity as well as an SD multi slot.

Fantastic, light, well built, and simply an efficient little machine.

(something to note is that this particular model from amazon comes with the smaller battery and battery life is considerably shorter than some other netbooks in this class. You can upgrade and buy the high capacity battery separately from HP)

No audio, built-in amps are dead. -- 2010-09-01
This is a nice refurbished computer but it has no audio output or at least it's very weak. I think the built-in amps are dead. I'm using external speakers so it's not a big issue. Maybe if I had time and patience I could send it back for repair. Oh well. The screen is very nice and everything other than the audio is working great.

If the audio worked I would have given it 5 stars.

This computer works great for a refurb -- 2010-08-16
I ordered this laptop as a media player for being in Afghanistan. First off let me say that everything that I needed this computer for it has more than lived up to my expectations. For the fella down there complaining about dropping of WiFi, I am in a foreign country where the internet is worse than the dial up connection in the USA and not once have I never had a problem with the wireless capabilities of this computer. As far as staying away from HP I wouldn't suggest it at all. Like I stated I am using this computer outside of the united states and it works just fine for a refurb. I highly recommend buying this computer if you are strapped for cash and dont really feel like investing a lot of money for a machine.

HP G42-240US 14.Inch LaptopHP G42-240US 14.Inch Laptop

Great computer, given the price is right -- 2010-08-29
I purchased this computer from another site when they had a promotion on it. I looked at the specs and the price, and saw that it was a steal, and I abandoned my prejudice against HP for their past products and bought it. I am very happy that I did. I won't say the exact price that I got the computer for, but I will say that this computer is in the $600 and under category.

This computer is a good mixture of good technology. The processor in this computer is a very good processor for a number of reasons. The L2 cache is 2mb as opposed to 1mb in most Turion IIs; the energy consumption is 25w, which is very low for a laptop processor of this magnitude. The M880 chipset and ATI Radeon 4250 provide a decent graphics setup; obviously, this computer isn't for modern gaming due to the lack of a dedicated video card... However, this video setup is much better than you will get with any Intel onboard graphics and will work just fine for most anything short of intensive 3D gaming/ 3D rendering... The 14" screen on this computer is a good one, with great viewing angles. The speakers are good for laptop speakers, but really, there aren't any spectacular internal laptop speakers and so if you want great sound quality and volume, invest in a decent pair of laptop speakers.

Aesthetically, this computer is certainly pleasing. The silver-ish patterned case of the computer is really unique and I really enjoy it. 14" is the perfect size for me, as it cradles perfectly in my lap and is much, much more portable than 15.6" or so laptops than I have owned in the past.

The keyboard is not bad at all... No Num Pad, but the buttons and function button planning are very well done. For a 14" laptop, I'm not sure if you can ask for a smarter/ better keyboard than this...

As for the cons, there is one that may just be something I am misunderstanding, but it really seems like the USB port that is on the right side (for the mouse) is not USB 2.0... For some reason, it doesn't get nearly the transfer rate as the other USB ports. I recommend getting a high speed hub with this computer so that you can easily add the additional USB ports that you will surely need. The other con is also fair in magnitude... HP has a lot of programs that it installs to keep your computer running well with HP updates on the drivers on your computer and such. Some of these programs are helpful and some are bloatware. It is much harder to sort out which is which with HP laptops than other brands, since they get so much more involved in the upkeep of your computer. I have it set up just fine on my computer now, and practically any laptop that you get nowadays is going to have some kind of bloatware on it, so the problem is easily handled with a bit of time, just like with most laptops. Extra care is needed to make sure that you do not remove programs that HP has created to help your computer, such as keep the hardware drivers up to date, etc...

All in all, this computer is great... Just what I was looking for! This laptop is perfect for just about anyone that doesn't do intense 3D graphic stuff. I would even go so far as to say that anything better than this is overkill if you are not going to be doing that type of stuff. This is a great desktop replacement computer that is very versatile in its uses and very good on the battery given the power of the computer. I was hesitant to buy HP before this computer, but I am certainly not anymore.

Five stars from me!

Pricey but almost perfect powerhouse -- 2010-08-23
I have owned this laptop since mid-August.
Very EZ set-up. Joining my network was a snap.
Bloatware seems held to a minimum. Refreshing.
Lots of new and NEWER features and capabilities - decent smart blend of later today and a little of early tomorrow. Obscelesence will be reasonably slow.
Styling and feel is spectacular. Huge bright glass covered screen!
Shipped with two batteries. Yup. TWO!
Heat seems to be the only problem with this new Envy series and most of the trouble is with the Core i7 processor equipped models (mine is an Core i5 and runs fast and kewl).
I've owned a passle of lappers and this is THE BEST by far. So far.
Win 7 64-bit hums. Liking this OS A LOT. Cannot wait for SP1 - to come soon.
HP has set up "special support" for owners of the Envy Series (3 models in many configs)
Overall, VERY impressed.
Congratulations HP.
A tad pricey but, all things considered, perhaps NOT.
Early adopters, all aboard!

Best. Laptop. Ever. -- 2010-09-03
Let me start out by saying this, my brother has a macbook and when he saw my new computer he was jealous. It's fast, the screen quality is perfect, it's got the extra number pad (which is very convenient), and Windows 7 runs great! The only thing I wish this laptop had is a webcam. But really, try finding a better laptop for this price. I am very pleased with my purchase and HIGHLY recommend it to everyone!

Not too good. -- 2010-09-01
I purchased this laptop 2 months ago, but have not really used it much. I encountered 2 blackouts already. Even after shutdown and cold start, it didn't come back. Have to wait for long while and it recovers itself. Not sure what problem caused this. If I am still in the returning window, will definitely want to return it. I like my HP laptop better, without blackout for no reason.
