Great TV for the $$ -- 2010-08-29
This is a great quality TV for the price. In addition to free shipping and no tax from Amazon.com it made the decision easy. The ONLY problem I have noticed thus far, is that the IR sensor for the TV is in the direct-bottom-center of the TV, further my front/center channel speaker on my surround sound blocks the sensor; minor problem, but I suggest they move the IR sensor to the left or right side.

Great value. -- 2010-08-24
The box arrived and the TV almost set itself up when it was plugged in. The instructions are good and it has all of the features I wanted such as multiple inputs. The picture is great and far beyond what we had before. The difference in picture quality if you use a BluRay player is amazing! The sound is mediocre but I use a surround sound system anyway.

Now the bad part. The box arrived a week late. It actually shipped a day early but sat on a local loading dock for a week. It was only after a few phone calls with the shipping company did they promise to deliver it in TWO MORE DAYS! They were supposed to call a half hour before they arrived but they did not. The delivery guys could not have been nicer.

Samsung 26 inch, Multimedia HDTV -- 2010-08-28
This review covers the 26inch HDTV and also a recently purchased 22 inch Samsung. Both are excellent sets with easy installation & exceptional picture quality. These sets are a part of our multimedia system where the main set is a 1.5 yr old 52 inch HDTV Samsung (also an Amazon purchase). All three sets have excellent TV tuners which seem to be a weak point on other manufacturer's product and, so far, the reliability of all sets has been 100% which is consistent with industry reliability reviews.Samsung LN26C450 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black)

Good but poor auto timer ability -- 2010-08-28
The only issue is that the auto timer cannot be set to start up on the HDMI input and is is of little use if that is your input channel. Apart from that it is easy to set up and has an excellent picture.

Great television -- 2010-08-31
I am very satisfied with my Samsung Television; I was impressed with how I was able to assemble and enjoy it so quickly. It was also packed perfectly, so far, so good, great Television.

Samsung LN19C350 19-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV (Black) -- 2010-08-21
The Samsung HDTV was packaged perfectly and arrived in excellent condition as expected based on my HDTV purchases through Amazon in the past.

I ordered a 19" for one of our small guest bedrooms. In a television that small, 720p 60Hz is just fine. Everything about the TV is working well, and I find the quality of the picture and volume quite satisfactory for its intended purpose.

I would definitely recommend this television to others based upon my experience with it.

Soap Opera Effect -- 2010-09-07
The Picture "quality" is horrific:
Everything looks like an HD Soap Opera.
Your favourite Blu-ray movie will look like Bold And The Beautiful, and worst of all, when you speak to the salesmen, they won't know/understand what you're talking about.
You can adjust the "motion flow" settings, which helps, but doesn't really solve the problem. And anyway, that's the "special feature" you paid so much money for.
It's a Marketing Trick from Sony, to sell expensive LED backlit (really it's LCD) TVs.

Great TV with lots of cool features -- 2010-08-31
I bought this TV for a gaming race car setup and wall mounted it. I connected the TV to my Playstation 3 using an HDMI cable for 1080p gaming. I also connected a surround sound system so can't say anything about the tv's built in speakers (most reviews say there not very good though).

The picture quality is amazing, especially after I calibrated it. GO TO [...] AND GET THE CALIBRATION SETTINGS FOR THIS TV ([...]).

Although I have no need for most of the cool features of this tv, definitely an added bonus. I found this tv to be a great balance of price and value.

Am pleased with it -- 2010-09-07
After reading many amazon reviews of various LCD and Plasma HD TVs, I decided on this one (for my living room). It's got beautiful color and sharpness, especially with HD channels. It's very user friendly. The only thing I could complain about is that the base isn't real solid, but it's solid enough.

This is the most I ever paid for a TV ($500 shipped).

Speaker quality is very good, and plenty loud enough. With an HDMI cable and HD channels, they produce a very nice sound.

It's a big improvement over the 26" wide screen CRT TV I was using. Salespeople at several TV stores highly recommended LG and Samsung TVs over all other brands.

I've had LCDs before... -- 2010-09-04
For the price, this LCD is phenomenal. I went to the local best buy looking for something to mount in the dining room so I can watch the news in the morning among other TV shows. After looking at all the 32s, 37s and 40s. This one stood above the rest. I have a Samsung LN46A650 and in my opinion, it was their best line of TVs and I'm glad I don't have to pick from their subpar line of TVs now. I've seen clarity, rich colors 1080p etc etc etc. The LG is comparable to a TV that was 3 times its price.

Let me explain. You really have to literally take look all of the quailties of a TV in order to make an educated and smart purchase. Don't buy a sony becuase it's a sony. Don't buy a TV of the same size that's more expensive because somewhere in our upbringing we wer taught, expensive = better. Not the case. When looking for a TV, look at how choppy fast motion is. Do you see background pixelation around the central image? (like a fast moving car, a football player, etc.) Can you see inconsistencies in the back lighting? Are blacks rich while the rest of the picture is vibrant? (not bright, vibrant)Does the picture look grainy or are the textures smooth? Try not to get caught up in the technical aspects of the TV if you don't know what they mean. They'll just make you *think* one TV is better than the other. Look at the TV and let your eyes decide.

After comparing several models in a similar size range, and taking cost into account, this TV wins hands down. At the store, you have to try to remove the factor of the factory settings becuse stores don't take the time to optimize *each and every* TV. Most TVs nowadays have more customization than you can shake a stick at. Gone are the basic color, tint, brightness settings. Now it's gamma, RGB, temperature and so on. Most TVs have the ability to be tuned the way you want it and it's because of this that it is so important to focus in on the mentioned above items. This LG shows a wonderful smooth picture that isn't grainy, doesn't show pixelation and colors are rich and lifelike, not plasticy and bright. Yes the Samsung of the same size is just as good, but the extra $200 it cost isn't. Go and literally take a look at your local store and look for the things I mentioned above an you'll see that this is a great Tv.

Samsung 3D TV 46 inch -- 2010-09-07
I am still somewhat skeptical about the future of 3D TV but decided to purchase it for the future potential. The definition of this TV for watching Blu-ray or HD content is truly superb. I did watch a Direct TV video program on the solar system in 3D and it certainly was entertaining but I am still doubtful about the future of 3D due to the need to wear those dorky glasses and then to have enough glasses available for other viewers.

My only complaint about the asthetics of this TV is the backlit "Samsung" on the front of the TV which is very annoying when watching a scene that is visually dark.

Great TV -- 2010-09-05
I have had this TV, the Samsung UN46C8000, for about one week. So far I have been very satisfied with my purchase. The picture is awesome. The blacks are very black. The 3D is very cool; even when converting standard 2D to 3D.

This is THE sub 700usd TV. -- 2010-09-03
Upon breaking the LCD panel in my previous Samsung TV, the LN4065F, I sent myself to Amazon in quest of a new TV. I wanted another Samsung, since their build and picture quality are topnotch, but I also wanted something relatively entree-level as a cheap means of replacing my older TV.

The Samsung LN40C530 delivers in both apartments, and with astonishing results. At under 700usd, this set provides an excellent picture with extremely rich colors. There is no problem with backlight bleeding or color inconsistency either. Compared to my older TV set, this one has more of a semi-glossy screen with some matte properties. Most people would view a semi-matte screen bad over a very glossy screen, but the matte elements in the screen do a great job of ensuring the colors this panel provide are very deep and saturated. Having a very high contrast ratio helps a great deal of bit with color reproduction as well. At its default settings, the picture's a a bit too sharp, so setting sharpness down to around 30s will produce more desirable/natural pictures. Compared to my older TV, the sound seems to be lesser, and not as deep, so I manually had to go into its equalizer and raise the lower hz rates up a little to produce satisfying results. This is fine for most people, but ones who play games under game mode for lower input lag are forced to use default audio, so they should think twice if sound is a big issue to them.

This TV doesn't boast any of the newer technologies we see today in higher end TVs-- such as 120/240hz, or led backlighting with or without local dimming-- but this TV doesn't need them. Almost all signals are capped at 60hz, and it's up to the TV's motion estimation interpolation to render false frames (which can sometimes lead to unwanted artifacts/effects) True 120hz won't be taken full advantage of until everything is broadcasted at a native 120hz rate. led local dimming seems nice, but this TV already is very bright, and shows no signs of backlight bleeding (blacks could be a little blacker, but that can usually be fixed by setting HDMI black level to low-- if wanted) Besides that, there's little reason to be a stickler for very deep blacks if the TV shows no sign of backlight bleeding/clouding.

In terms of build quality, for a sub 700usd TV, the LN40C530 looks and feels like a 1500+usd tv. The bezel is small and compact (as well as a slimmer depth than my old TV: 3.1inches compared to 3.8inches), while Samsung included a row of touch sensitive buttons on the bottom right-- very akin to Sony PS3's power/eject buttons. One thing I am a bit disappointed in is the lack of Samsung's trademark lighting effect on the bottom center of the bezel, but the blown glass-like design of the clear plastic under the bottom bezel looks very nice. Even though Samsung says this TV doesn't come with a touch of color feature, you can make out a very faint amount of red accent in the very bottom of the TV. The remote is another letdown for me, as the general look to it is very cheep compared to my older model. Thankfully, the older remote works on this new TV as well.

As for the general consensus: If you're in the market for an entree level HDTV with amazing picture, you need not look further than this great piece of kit Samsung has introduced.

A Wonderful TV -- 2010-09-06
I love this TV. Bought it for our bedroom along with the wireless media kit. It is perfect. The tv was very easy to set up, the picture is crystal clean and its just a very clean looking set. The power consumption economy mode is pretty cool, dims when the lights go down which is perfect for the bedroom then brightens up when the lights come on. As far as the TV itself I have not found any problems. I do have a couple minor issues with features. Netcast - the LG website shows many apps however this TV only gets 4; Netflix, You Tube, Picaso and Vudu (not including Yahoo widgets). I was really looking forward to having Pandora and Facebook so I'm not sure why the website shows them but they are not actually available. Then theres the remote. I do like the illuminated buttons but thats about it. The buttons are too close together around the directional click wheel and I've been having troubles with it. It comes and goes but sometimes it won't let me click the same direction more than once. For example if I was scrolling or tryng to type something in and I needed to go to the right I will have to click right down right up just to get 2 spaces to the right. Same thing if I'm choosing and setting the sleep mode. Annoying but I can live with it. Having the wireless media kit I need to use my cable tv remote most of the time anyway. I do wish we could get more apps though. Another feature I like about this tv is that you can choose inputs. Standard cable, HDMI or over the air digital. This is nice because we have the wireless media kit hooked to our main cable box in our living room via a splitter which means both TV's would need to be watching the same shows. Being able to switch inputs means gives me the option of watching any show on basic cable is someone else is watch HD oon our main TV. Anyway, I highly recommend this tv unless you are heavily into apps.

Exceedingly Pleased -- 2010-09-02
Like so many others I did several weeks of checking all the high end name brands online and at many of the big box stores. At the start I never even looked at the LG line of LED/LCD TV's. After visiting one particular store, that happened to have this model, I was quite surprised at the picture quality and the features. My wife and I are exceedingly pleased about this TV purchase and have been urging our friends who are thinking of a new TV not to dismiss LG. One of our favorite features is the auto volume setting which goes a long way toward lowering those annoying advertising sound spikes. LG 42LE5400 42-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV

I would recommend this TV to anyone as a quality value item for the price, the features and the technology.

Very Good LG LCD -- 2010-08-31
I've owned plasma, lcd and projector HDTV's and recently purchased this LG 42" set. I'm very impressed with the overall picture quality.

Great image quality and very accurate colors after tweaking the attributes a bit.

I haven't tested it with a CRT monitor, but gaming lag seems very low.

Amazing clarity and sharpness, works very well as a PC Monitor using HDMI.

I believe the setting "Just Scan" is 1:1 pixel mapping.

120hz for Sports! It's great! I don't like it at all for any other viewing other than sports. The Trumotion 120hz feature can be disabled or enabled at any time. It creates a rather unnatural looking "Live Shoot" "Home Video" kind of effect--but it works well with live action sporting events such as football. In 60hz mode this LCD performs well with sports but you'll notice slightly blurry, slightly pixellated "artifacts" when a football player is running (certain camera angles are worse/better) pixellated turf at times, etc. It's not hugely noticeable but it's there when you really focus on it in fast motion sports. The Trumotion feature almost eliminates these artifact/blur issues, I leave it on during NFL games--yes the commercials look a bit weird with it, but for the live action game I love it.

Black level could be better, some backlight flashlighting on an all-black background--one of the tradeoffs with many LCD's.

Cooler than a plasma which heats up a smaller room, great (almost too much so) clarity and definition compared even to most plasmas (plasmas usually have a slightly softer definition that many believe looks more natural)

Lower resolution standard TV and even lower res pictures on a PC suffer, this baby loves 720p/1080p/1080i and general high res content.

Excellent "tweakability" the controls are great for getting the picture you want. Many different modes, cinema with warmer hues, game mode with all specialty controls turned off, and one thing I love is this TV remembers your picture settings per input. A lot of tv's in this range don't do this. Tweak the Cinema picture setting on your Blu Ray HDMI 1? It remembers those settings for that HDMI 1 input and all other inputs when you switch inputs.

woodman71 1st HDTV purchase -- 2010-08-29
This was my 1st HDTV purchase & I would rate my selection 4.5 stars out of 5. The unit was a little expensive compared to the big box stores economy Brands but I thought this TV had alot of technology built into it & I had seen LG HDTV's in Motel rooms & @ friends homes. It has an amazingly clear picture even on standard cable & I am probably not going to upgrade to HD Cable for a while because of that. Beware tho; Optical Video out only; I can't run it thru my 20 Yr. old Pioneer VSx9500 Stereo Amp because there are no RCA video out connections, only a female 1/8th" female port for a head phone. I am going to try to find a Y adapter to RCA plug to hook up but this seems rediculous. The remote control must be aligned up close to the TV in order to switch channels Etc. Am still learning how to use all its features tho. Life's Good!Woodman71
