This thing is cool! -- 2009-03-04
Right now, its my favorite toy! Handy for taking notes since I constantly Theorize.

Too bad they gave up on it! -- 2005-12-16
This was such an excellent handheld and the wireless was so easy to use. It's a shame they gave up on it, and thought that the wireless web abilities in my cell phone was a replacement. This is anything but the truth. The Palm VII could get email, news, weather, taxi cabs, book hotels, lookup information in an online dictionary or encyclopedia, and do so much more. The advantage was that these things could be done within seconds while driving down the highway, in the forest or wherever you were at. I used this thing very heavily when I was on a vacation in Florida and did so much that would take forever to accomplish with a GPS, cell phone or device with a web browser. The Palm VII lacked a browser because they are slow and take forever to get information over a device like this.

So sad they had to discontinue Palm.net and so sad that the majority of people out there are so ignorant. This device never caught on with the public. But it will be forever remembered.

Sony Clie software disc -- 2009-02-15
The SONY Clie worked great for a couple of days and then it crashed my computer (i.e. destroyed my hard drive.) When I got a new computer the
store that I bought it from loaded additional soft ware for me but when they tried to load the SONY Clie they said the the disc was contaminated and would ruin my computer.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! -- 2001-10-19
I, too, thought I had a great product. Until just after my warranty expired. My PPC decided one day to short circuit itself, and get so hot I could not even pick it up. It warped the leather of my carrying case, and could well have started a fire if I had left it near papers on my desk. Now, it only works when it wants to. HP's response is too bad. Of course, they would be willing to fix it for $200. My advice, DO NOT BUY THIS DEVICE! Best case, you get poor customer support and a sub-par product. Worst case, it burns your home or office to the ground!!!

Bigger improvement -- 2000-12-17
Pocket PC O/S is a bigger improvement over WinCE version. Drawback is that there is no Microsoft Powerpoint available yet for Pocket PC version so you'll have to convert presentations to HTML format. Furthermore, unless you use a 3rd-party software, you'll lose transition & animation effects from the original Powerpoint presentation you made.

I also own a Palm IIIc and find it easier to use compared to the Pocket PC version. The Palm platform is almost idiot-proof, unlike Pocket PC which has a higher learning curve for ordinary users who are not so computer-literate. I didn't even need to read the manual to use my Palm Pilot.

Also note that there are more software available for download onto the Palm platform.

Upside is that Jornada 540's screen/display is great, you can work on Word & Excel documents, unlike in Palm Pilot, memory is expandable, you can play MP3's, record voice messages, and plug in your earphones if you want to listen to music. Compared to Palm Pilots currently in the market, Jornada has more features and better display resolution.

Total waste of time and money -- 2009-05-24
I bought the IPAQ because it offered synchronized functions with MS Outlook on my PC. The synch worked OK, but I soon regretted the purchase. Working with the tiny stylus on a tiny soft keyboard image was tedious in the extreme, and THEN the battery stopped keeping its charge. Bought a new battery. Soon the next one stopped keeping its charge.

Now the IPAQ will not turn on AT ALL, even sitting in its recharge dock. And of course the total failure happened after the limited warranty had expired. And this for something that cost me a lot more than a smart phone.

I'm going low tech for a while to get the bad taste out of my mouth.

Only 1 year it worked NOT BAD! -- 2008-04-23
I dislike it very much! First, during 2-nd month working problems with battery occured. Then the touch-screen did not work well. And after one year the touch screen does not work at all!!!

Great & Simple -- 2010-07-10
Instead of setting up my laptop on a dusty job site, I bought this simple, easy to carry PDA. I only needed Excel to operate and update my field program. This was a great buy for everything I needed. Thanks Amazon...

Overall Experience -- 2010-04-19
I am very pleased with the product ~ however, it took a long while to get to my location // 3 weeks. I wished it were sent with faster delivery service rather than snail mail. Will not place future orders from this vendor.

Loved it... now... not so sure -- 2010-06-15
When I first bought this about 16 months ago, I loved it... except that it couldn't connect to the internet from my apartment... couldn't synch with my laptop nor could it update when I was able to connect to the internet... but since this was my first PDA, I was happy that it would play movies and entertain me during long trips.

When I started learning that the product was suppose to be able to do some of the things that I had initially bought it to do and didn't... well, now my trust factor of all things ASUS have dropped off. I noticed that Dell doesn't offer the item any longer and ASUS doesn't support (nor do they seem to acknowledge it's existence). How wonderful for my naievete... that I didn't persue more of the features... but now it's almost dead in the water except that I can still play solitare and bubble breaker... and when the moon is just right, work the excel program. :) I love life.

Disappointing -- 2010-05-10
I've used a number of PDAs since the late 1990s - HP 620 (as I recall), REX, iPaq, Axim X30 and A626. How I'd like to see the REX come back on to the market! Anyway, all of these seem to have offered increasing functionality, until the A626. I bought it because my Axim X30 developed a screen fault after several years of use, and I thought that was the begining of the end - I'd had to replace a previous Axim because of another failure. I have to, or think I have to, cart around a PDA because of work/life divisions, keeping common calendar/contacts functions on the PDA. This worked fine on all models until A626. But A626 took much longer to start cold than e.g. Axim -literally several minutes vs than a second or two on Axim - pretty frustrating when I was just looking up a contact, or recording an appointment at the dentist's office. Whether this was due to A626 hardware, or the bloated Windows Mobile software (vs. CE) that came with it, I cannot say. Within the past month, Calendar and Contacts functions became inoperable on the A626. These seem to have been corrected by a hard reset - but what a hassle - my labor costs in dealing with deficiencies of A626 now easily exceed the cost of the device itself.

It was great! ... 8 years ago -- 2010-03-30
I bought this for typing my notes in class 8 years ago. Yeah, it was great then, but I can't believe they're still selling it and for almost the same amount that I paid for it years ago. Wtf? Buy a netbook.

Simply the best -- 2009-03-15
It is not design to replace a computer, however it a great handheld.
Mine has Wi-Fi which allow me to get Internet at a lot of public places. I needed a PDA with a keyboard.

This is one powerful handheld, one of the best made in 2003. It is just a little bit bigger than small but the keyboard and screen is such a delight, I doubt anyone will mind.

I have a 728 which means it has double the memory which is nice, however you can and lots of memory with a compact flash card. The pocket chess game is awesome. Pocket Outlook and Word syncs with Outlook and Word 2007 on my Dell laptop.

The Palm would not hold battery power. Unable to use unless it was plugged in to an outlet. It was returned for a credit.

Excellent Purchase, I got exactly what I expected -- 2008-10-15
This product was exactly what the vendor said it would be. I received all the components as advertised. Excellent product and I'm very happy with it thus far.
